Dead batteries

On my 2010 the roof air runs with the house batteries disconnected, the refer runs too.  The 12 volts required to operate the thermostat and the refer control panel is supplied by the converter even with the house batteries disconnected.

I can't help thinking that there is some information missing here.  Are you plugged into 110 VAC shore power when this occurs?  Or, is the generator running?  Or, is your engine running?  Plus, the factory information shows that the 2010 models are equipped with an inverter (DC to AC) not a converter (AC to DC).  I don't understand.

If you go back a few replies you will see that I was respoding to the question why the battery disconnect light stays on when the battery is disconnected while on shore power.  LG responded that he had to leave the battery connected to get 12vdc to the roof air thermostat for the roof air to run.  I was responding that in my 2010 2551, when on 115vac shore power I can disconnect the batteries and the 115vac to 12vdc converter will supply the 12vdc to the thermostat and also the refer control panel so both the roof air and refer will run even with the batteries disconnected.  This seems like a good idea so that my batteries are not being charged continously while on shore power, avoids potential overcharging.

In answer to your comment that 2010 models have only an inverter; there is a converter to go from shore power or generator 115vac to 12vdc to run 12v circuits and charge the battery.  There is also an inverter to go from 12vdc to 115vac to run the tv, dvd and a few 115vac outlets while drycamping.

Thanks for the info Bob. I thought when I was ringing circuits that was the way it should be.  I had the AC and thermostat replaced as part of the deal when I bought my unit from a dealer and I think that the in the change over the thermostat was mis-wired through the battery after the disconnect.  Should be an easy fix amounting to finding one hot wire.
