Now that we are no longer towing, we plan to take "the roads less traveled" and explore this great country. We hope to leave the interstate highways and try some scenic byways. In the past, we spent weeks plotting our route, finding and reserving campsites to ensure our ability to have a safe, accessible place to park. We would appreciate any suggestions or tips from folks who have learned how to avoid problems. An example, say we choose a NFS site with no host, and we want to stay a few nights; How do we ensure that our site won't be taken if we take our PC to go touring during the day? If we want to try dispersed camping, how do we know it's ok to stay in a likely looking spot? Any resources you can recommend? Also are there places that a knowledgable, prudent person might want to avoid? Please jump in with your thoughts.
