Things We Have Added to Our 2350 - Dining Table

We have made some additions to our 2008 Phoenix Cruiser 2350 to make travel a little easier and would like to share them with other PC owners.  Need to login to see the attached pictures.

We ordered our unit with the dining table and hardware provided but not installed.  We then installed a set of folding legs which seem to work fine for our needs plus it provides more flexibility.

Would you tell us where you got the folding legs you added to your table top?  We have just decided we would like to have that flexibility, too.  We use the drawers under the sofa for a lot of food storage, and can't open the drawers with the table in dining position, plus do find it a bit too cozy to get on and off the sofa with the table in position.

   We had a couple of these personal tables from Walmart (as seen in the link) http://www.walmart.com/ip/Lifetime-Personal-Table-in-Almond/13449271.  We paid under $20 for them.  We took the legs off of one of them and installed them on the bottom of the table top.  Worked great.  With the new PC 2012 we are using the spider legs supplied by Phoenix.  They work just as good, if not better. Here is a picture of the table with the new spider legs. 

We have seem them for sale at a couple of RV stores.  What has made it work really great for us is that we pressure fitted the legs into the spider portion so they are now all one piece.  They store really nice and are very sturdy.

Thanks for the good info, Sue.  Where do you store the spider legs? Do they collapse?   I take it you didn't go with the idea you posted a while back about making a little gate-legged folding table (ala CampingWorld) ??

    Once we saw the spider legs we decided they worked fine so did not go with the gate legged table.  They do collaspe and we store them either in the drawer under the couch or the floor of the closest.  If I get a chance I will post a picture of them collasped. If we did not pressure fit the poles into the spider legs they would not be as easy to use.  Now I just set the legs up and add the table top--very easy.

Here are a couple of pictures with the table legs in the storage position.  We have a 2012 2551 but wanted the couch with the drawer.  The legs were a little long with this couch so we cut a couple of inches off and then pressure fitted them into the spider legs.  Works really great.

Very helpful Sue!  Will that table leg arrangement not snap onto the table with the usual factory supplied brackets?

We do not have the factory supplied brakets so I cannot answer that question.  The poles themselves are the same ones that they used prior to the spider legs so I'm sure that the poles will still go into the brakets but with the spider legs permanently attached to them I do not know if they will work.  We just found that it was easier to attach the poles and them set them up and add the table top.  The way they are supposed to be used is that you but the spider legs on the floor, add a pole to each one and then add the table top.  We just found the table to be really sturdy by having the poles allready tightly attached to the spider legs.  The table can be moved without too much difficulty if we have it set up and have to get into the drawer.  Many times we'll set the table and then once we sit down we move it closer to us.  That is how sturdy it is.  We do not have carpet so I do not know if they would make any difference.

Thanks for the pictures of the spider legs.  I've been thinking about getting them since the new PC's came out with them, so I called the factory today and ordered them.  They come with 2 new/shorter poles to compensate for the added height of the spiders.  Will have to replace part of the laminate flooring I installed to remove the holes in the floor, but it'll be worth it.  I'll let you know if they fit the brackets on the table top for storage.

We just ordered the spider legs, too.  Thanks for the tip and pics, Barry & Sue. Will be great to have more flexibility and ease of positioning the table.  I found the folding table for the other table legs you had on your 2350 -- at campingworld -- for $17 on sale! But don't think it would make as steady a table, espec. on our carpet.  AND would have been a lot of retrofitting to the existing table. Might use the little folding table as a grill table.

Now I just need lmichael to redo our carpeting and pole-holes with vinyl!

Deena, it was fairly simple to rip up the carpet and install laminate flooring.  Not having to deal with carpeting is great, and the new flooring is very easy to maintain.  I've installed laminate flooring in houses, so that experience made installing it in our PC easier.  There is a vinyl product that looks like wood (marble, too) that is easier to install and sticks to the floor instead of floating, but there have been reports of a strong smell.  We're very happy with our laminate floor.

The spider legs arrived today, and we love them--looking forward to the versatility they will allow with the table set up.  The 3 "feet" on the spiders are not tight when folded (their hinges allow free movement when collapsed), so they cannot be left attached to the poles and snapped to the underside of the table top using the existing brackets.  We'll attach the legs to the table brackets and store the spiders in the drawer under the couch.

We covered the holes in the floor when we re-floored, and these look PERFECT. Glad I didnt scrap the original table..
