General Discussion / Re: Rear Hub Liners-Reminder

Interesting that my front hub caps are bolt on.  Why in heck they didn't do that to the rear in beyond me.  I am thinking about painting my rims.

Thanks.  That's all I could think of is the damage a shredded tire can do.  Thankfully it just went flat.  4 new tires and we're happy.

General Discussion / Rear Hub Liners-Reminder
« on: September 01, 2021, 01:37:34 pm »
We were coming back from Williams Az heading towards home (Pahrump Nv) and ran over the road vibration things on the shoulder.  Glanced in my outside drivers mirror and see a Hub liner zooming across the highway.  Ya, it was mine off the passenger side rear.   Finally found an off ramp to pull over (towing my Toyota tacoma).  Liner gone.  Inner tire FLAT.  Limped another 45 miles into Kingman Discount tire.  I had valve extenders on.  It snapped the end of the valve stem at the rim.  Anyway, they removed the tire from the rim.  The inside was starting to separate and little particles of tire roaming around on the inside.
4 new tires installed as my Michelins were 6 yrs old.
Advice:   Check hub liners to make sure they are on tight.

BTW, I am trying to convince the wife that I need new rims so my hub cap/liner problem will disappear.

Just out of curiosity, what did you decide?  I put in the accordion door from the factory, but kept all the parts from the original door.

Thanks to y'all for the kind words.  I sometimes forget to read all the forums, therefore the very late reply.

BTW,  don't be afraid to ask questions.  Lot's of knowledge and OJT about these rv's on this site.

I have found out that most Ford RV factory shocks are not very good much past around 25K .  I changed mine to Bilsteins.  It's better, but I agree that we are driving trucks, not luxury cars/suvs.  Change them and you will be happier.

Has the paint come off your roof or are you making it look nice?  Paint would be a good choice. Of course that is my opinion only.

I had the same problem.  I bought an accordian door from PC factory.  Shipping cost more than the door.  Anyway, here is a link to a site that might have the panels for your original door.
If you do get a door from the factory, just make sure you measure the side to ensure you get the same length.

My 2350 is registered as a 2008, but I believe it is a 2007 chassis.  I will have to check this morning to see if I have one on mine.  Thanks.

Mine is the same.  I empty them both at the same time.  We are supposed to be camping right now.  Unfortunately our RV is at a friends house 150 miles from here waiting til tomorrow to see what is leaking anti-freeze.  But when that's foxed I will try to pay attention to which is which.

Don,  They are labeled from the factory at the bottom the the switch on the stove hood.   I am assuming the you are correct in that 1 is for grey (gray) and 2 is for black tank.

So, I used fatter screws and that seemed to work-for now!  I might add a few more self tapping screws.  I will look into the blind rivet nut.  Heck, I can use them on a lot of different things.
Again, thanks to all.
Still trying to find the answer on holding tanks numbers.  Which one is the gray tank?

I have done a lot of de-rattling.  I think I found the last one.  The awning.  While filling up at the liquid gold station I wiggled the awning.  Yes it was a little loose.  Got and and checked the screws- over half were either loose or striped.
Question-Do they screw into the frame or just the outer skin?  I have a fiamma 45 awning.

I'll sneak another question in.  Sounds dumb-but- is holding tank 1 gray water?

I did originally did call them resisters.  Darn old age!!!   Thanks for the explanation.  I will probably get the flasher.  Much simpler solutions.  Have done that to 2 other vehicles.
