General Discussion / 2552 dinette
« on: December 07, 2019, 11:48:57 am »
Still looking for a 2552.  Found one that seems to not have a pantry but an over sized slide.  Do they make more than one size slide.  About would it cost to have the dinette removed and either the sofa or dual chairs installed?

Exactly what I needed.  Anybody have an idea for the Mobileye.   See you supplied your own AC, what model?

When at the factory in October they were ďworkingĒ on the pricing tool.  I found a thread started back in early 2018 about the same subject.  I know I used one time in the past but is it available?  I want to price out some options on a used unit.

Ron, from the responses Iíve seen on my post, it looks like your poll on subject needs to be revitalized and brought to the forefront.

Ok, so now Iím seeing 2016-17 that are experiencing the flaking problem.  Iím guessing sun/uv exposure would be the leading cause of failure.  The 2552 that I didnít get to see claims to be perfect on the fabric, but it did live under a roof for its entire life.  The unit I drove 462 miles to see had some of its upholstery replaced, but it also had gouging where the slide out rollers were.

Iíve seen the poll about damage, but there must be a lot more failures than are reported.  Iím still seeking a 2552.  Money wise from around 2011 on.  Iíve personally looked at 2 and have seen pics of at least 2 others on rvtrader that show and or report damage due to flaking.  We have a personal friend who only does classic auto interiors, and weíve show him pics of what needs to be replaced.  Heís redone everything in my current chinook.  Heís estimated $3-4K to replace using a heavy duty vinyl type material.    So my question is, what year would be safe to begin looking at to avoid this problem.  One 2012 year 2552 that I was very interested in claims there was no damage, but I didnít get to inspect it.  Was it a particular color material that was more to blame than another, or just everything in the 3-4 year period?

Do you have a few faucets valves open to vent the tank while draining?

General Discussion / Fiberglass roof

On my recent tour of the factory it was pointed out to me, the fiberglass material for the topside roof.  It was a flexible roll of what appears to be 1/8Ē thick FRP.  It has a textured pebble finish.  Is it?  I see this most used in commercial bathroom partitions and I used it to rebuild the inside of my exit door(Chinook).  I ask because I just wasted a 462 mile one way to look at a 2552(they called it a 2700).  Among other things, when I climbed up the ladder, there was a blister about 18Ēx18Ē where the roofing material had lifted up about an inch ,right where the ladder and rear cap come together.  How is this product affixed to the substructure.  Glue, all over, or just attached along the drip edges.
Still looking for a 2552, think my last subject, away out west is not going  to pan out.

General Discussion / 2552 question
« on: October 29, 2019, 12:56:19 pm »
Took a factory tour last week to look at subject.  Only one there was already sold, but got to look inside it.  My first question is has any one raised or modified the cabinet over the passenger side bed.  When I laid down I swear my toes were up against the bottom of the cabinets.  And no, Iím only a size 10.  As a side note on the factory tour, they only had 1 e450 in construction, and only 2 cutaway chassis in the yard.  Bob explained that new e450s were getting harder to come by.  On other forums there is much talk about the new ford v8 w/10 speed xmission so guess is ford has more emphasis on their new 2021. They had 5 of the new transits under construction, and several cutaways in the yard.  Hopefully getting close to a deal on a 2552 thatís located out west.
