General Discussion / Furnace temps
« on: January 11, 2022, 12:20:14 pm »
There was a recent thread about a melted plastic cover in close proximity to the furnace hose.  Today, while doing my monthly run time, I brought my infrared thermal gun.  The wall temps were steady at 21*.  With engine and generator running, cranked on the furnace.  This is for a 2552 so others might be different.  After about 2 minutes of running, and the thermostat set at 74*….the outlet duct under the bed(closest to the furnace) the temp went up to 158-160*!  The flex duct was in the upper 90s*.  The outlet under the sink was in the low120*. The metal box around the furnace stayed in the low 90s.  After about 15 minutes, the outlet under the bed stayed in the low 120s and the flex hose stayed the same through out.  Wall temps got to the low 50s.

So, because the outlet vents are plastic, it would take a lot of temp to get them to melt.

Could that furnace hose right underneath be causing that warp to the plastic.  Run the furnace and check the temp at that spot.

Lost last response?  Got under today with a flashlight (2552) .  There is a black vent tube in the bath room closet, drivers side, that runs up thru the roof.  PC drilled an ample hole for this pipe to pass. Lots of room for critters to pass.  Would like to foam close from underneath but can’t get to them because of position of black tank.  Checked under beds and all cabinet and couldn’t find any evidence of housekeeping.  Will try packing some pink fiberglass insulation around the gaps where the black pipe passes thru.

Checked the PC this afternoon for some run time.  Had another mouse submerged in the antifreeze in the toilet.  They just don’t like my peanut butter traps.  Had to add some more antifreeze, they drink a lot.

What does your vin say compared to your title, compared to how your insurance is classified.  Does insurance say you have a 19,20 or 21.  Watch they don’t base premium on 21, but a total loss based on a 19.  I’ve had that argument with State Farm.

Just exercised our winterized 2552.  When doing a quick inspection, there was a mouse floating in the toilet bowl.  I had left the bowl about half full of the pink stuff.  Guess it wanted a drink, and couldn’t climb out of the porcelain bowl.  Now got to find out where he was residing.

To get the last bit of water out, get a cheap turkey baster at the dollar store.  Put a short piece of hose on it, stick in the drain hole and suck it out.  After I do that, I will squirt a bit of antifreeze in it just to be sure.

Check behind the trim and wall to see if some debris have fallen back there.  That would push the trim out when the slide is open all the way.

Yep!  Absolutely no slack to slip out clogged valve.  Crawl under yours and take a look.  Takes a can of silicone spray with you to lube the adjustment screws if you have electric sliders.

As for the fridge..norcold?  Don’t overload the door with lots of heavy stuff.  At the recent rally, the bottom hinge on ours just broke clean off. Plastic.  Good vids on YouTube how to repair.  Did ours in the campground.
