General Discussion / Re: Insect Screens for Vents
« on: October 20, 2017, 04:26:07 am »
Something you might consider is attaching dryer sheets in areas you are concerned that insects might build nests.  Since we have been using them, we have no longer had any problems from wasps, etc. building nests.  We change them every spring so the scent is stronger again.

Telecom....my 3100 fully loaded was within 900lbs of max.  I like a little more safety zone, the front was very close to max as I recall.  Best of luck.
Thanks for the info! I appreciate it.

Axel weights can conceal overweight situations.  Corner weights tell you the real story of how your coach was built.  We were shocked when we first found out about our corner weights.
That's what we are planning to do.

I hate to say it but I think you are going to be surprised and not pleasantly so, The Cat's will tell the story.
What are the numbers on your 3100? Was your fuel tank full and did you have anything in your holding tanks when you got your coach weighed? Thanks.

We used the CAT scales with our class A to get several different weights to see how the coach sat, left to right, on each axle, and in total. It gave us a real good idea (with a normal load) where the weight was. It's worth the minimal cost to have this information. We plan to do the same with the PC. Good choice to do it!  2o2

General Discussion / Re: WeatherTech Liners or Mats
« on: October 06, 2017, 08:14:15 am »
Today I ordered the Econoline front mats which look like they should fit perfectly. The year listed is 2013 so I will find out shortly if this works. Our carpet is gray so that is what I ordered. the wether tech item no is W51GR and the price was  $54.95 plus shipping which still brought it less than most I saw on other sites.
Great, Patricia. Please report back!  :)

Great info, thanks everyone. We have great options to consider now.  2o2
The new PC's come with carpeted mats (I saw them in a bag when we drove the 2018 3100). So, we will have those at a minimum. We always do something more, because there's usually something out there that gives more coverage/protection.

So, it sounds like PC doesn't change the floor configuration (from the time the chassis is complete to the time the PC is complete), would that be correct to assume?

Husky makes a similar product.   Not quite as nice but same fit.
Thanks, will check that out.

General Discussion / WeatherTech Liners or Mats
« on: October 05, 2017, 01:28:40 pm »
We use WeatherTech Floor Liners in all our vehicles. So, in anticipation of ordering our 3100 next spring, we looked up the E450 on their website to see whether the liners or mats were available. We didn't see either as available, so we emailed WeatherTech. Here's their response (we specifically said for the Ford E450 chassis):

"Unfortunately, we do not manufacture any products for RVís or motorhomes. We cannot guarantee the fit of our products to your model since we do not test fit to that application. Some manufactures may make changes to the floor."

I see some of you have gotten the WeatherTech mats, from discussions here a few years back.

Has anyone gotten WeatherTech liners or mats for their more current PC's?

Suggestions?

Hey Free2rv
. Thanks for the drier sheets suggestion for the bug removal.  I washed my unit yesterday and it really works great.  This forum is great for all kinds of information.  Thanks again.
Syd ;)
Glad you tried it and found how easy it was. We learned that little trick of the trade years ago on irv2 and have been doing it on our cars and motorhome ever since. We used to struggle to get the bugs off and now it's a piece of cake. Happy to pass that along to help others.    :)

General Discussion / Re: Breaking News

We were at the factory last week to take a look at the 3100 that came back from Hershey. We made 2 prior trips to the factory in the last year (met with Kermit once and with Earl once) to see production, get questions answered, etc, but we've never gotten to see a finished 3100 in the flesh. That is the model we are ordering next spring. We met with one of the new execs (not an owner). He was very informative, helpful, and pleasant. He showed us the 3100, answered our questions, and if he didn't know the answer, he found out for us. We talked to a couple employees who were helpful and upbeat. This 3rd visit was no different from the prior 2, in terms of atmosphere. In fact, this visit seemed to indicate more things going on and more people doing things, more units, more activity. Several units were going out the door (picked up by new owners). We spoke to a couple who was there to get an issue resolved on their 2016 PC, and they were positive about the company. We got to drive the 3100 and we were not rushed at all. It was our 3rd visit and it was a great one. It made us feel good about our decision to place our order next spring. So, not sure if this will help, but just thought we'd share. We are very positive!  2o2

Hey Ron,  sounds like a great trip. Re bug juice on the PC, have you ever tried dryer sheets? They take the bugs right off. We use them on our cars and they work like a charm...quick and easy. Just a thought.
Hmmm....I'll have to try that one.

Thanks for the tip!
Wet the vehicle and the dryer sheet. Rub the bugs off and then wash off the vehicle with your vehicle wash soap, then rinse.

General Discussion / Re: Introduce Yourself!
« on: October 01, 2017, 02:32:56 pm »
Hello all!
My name is Susie and my husband's name is Gary. We saw our first PC in Rapid City last summer. Since that time, we've been doing our homework, making decisions and have even visited the factory 3 times!

We currently own a 39' Class A diesel pusher (Holiday Rambler Endeavor) and have decided that it is time to downsize. We aren't getting any younger, and we are ready to simplify our travels and make things easier for ourselves. We knew we wanted to downsize, but nothing was acceptable to us until we found the PC. Now we are getting our ducks in a row to do it.

In May 2018, we will be visiting the factory to order our new 3100. We have been in contact with Earl, and we have decided we'll probably have them start the production such that it ends up being a model year 2019 coach (receive it by the end of September 2018).

Did I say we are excited?!!!  2o2  (cheer)  :-D

Glad to be here!
