General Discussion / Re: flush

There is a check valve in the hose bib where you attach the hose to the flush out system to guard against any back flow, BUT.

we looked long and hard at Coach House before purchasing our first PC (2351) The big problem I thought was that it is very heavy. So they had to go to More-Ryde for the rear suspension. And they were very expensive. BUT the cabinets and hardware were great. See the hinges and latches in the photos. Now, if PC would upgrade the cabinets/drawer hardware. Hello, Hello, PC, are you listening.  (WH)

General Discussion / Re: Liquid Springs; are they worth the cost?
« on: April 23, 2018, 08:17:05 am »
I just returned from a trip to Phoenix from PA in my 2017 2552. We drove across the US mostly on I-40 and returned across AZ-NM-TX-LA-MS and Al on I-10. This is my second long trip in our PC 2552 (went to the PC gathering in Sisters,OR)  and I feel that this is by far the best riding RV that I have owned except for our Newmar DP. At this time, I will not even install Koni shocks till the OEM shocks start to fade. My suggestion is to purchase your RV, whatever brand, drive it for awhile, then do your upgrades.

Last year I was at the PC plant when the Liquid Springs motorhome came into the plant. Earl talked with them for quite a long time and then left with them.(I often wonder if Earl went with them) Earl told me that they had a unit go out with liquid springs but it came back after a few months to be sold on consignment. NOT because the guy didn't like it but he bought it without telling his wife and SHE wanted a 40 foot Newmar. He told me that he was impressed with the unit. I would hope so for the price. Also check with Born Free owners. They used to install them on their units back when they were $6000.

you gets whatya pay for. Toni shocks are expensive no doubt. Buy dampen both ways, in and out. The HD Bilsteins on my previous Born Free were good shocks but just not as good as the Koni FSD. IMHO

I put Bilsteins on a Born Free (E-450) that we had and Koni's on my previous PC 2351. Koni's were better IMHO.

General Discussion / Re: Tank flushing questions
« on: April 10, 2018, 04:59:10 pm »
While on a recent trip, I also found I could not flush out the tanks. I pulled the hose bib (where you connect the water hose) and found that there is a check valve in the fitting. It was jammed shut and I could not free it. I found an RV dealer, purchased a new bib, and installed it. Works fine. I beat and pounded on the check valve and never did get it loose up till the time it took a high dive into the campground dumpster. :-D

We picked up our 2017 2552 in August. I had the spare tire option installed for $750. It is the old style rear cap with full size spare and wheel and is covered with the fiberglass cover as in older models. There is no room under the unit for a spare. If you do not tow a vehicle, you could buy or build a spare tire carrier mounted in the hitch or if you do tow a vehicle, you could carry a spare in it.

General Discussion / Re: Tiny grey tank issue

Our 2017 2552 with full fresh water tank and empty grey and black will give us two showers each. These are reasonable length showers. Not military type.

When an RV company is sold, then key people start leaving (or are let go) and prices are jacked way up; this  does not  bode well for its future.  I wonder if Kermit is holding any paper.

We carry a small Zodiac with a 5 hp outboard once in a while when we go fishing. We only do this when pulling a toad and carry the boat in the jeep.

Interesting way to gain longer bunks. PC offers a 6 inch extension which is the way I went. it gives us a little more cabinet space. Other than that, I would have them Install a higher dome in the shower. I am 6'3" and had to bend over in the demo model. Ours with the higher dome works well. I would also have dual pane windows installed. Quieter, warmer in cold and cooler in heat. Also, window awnings. We do not like the loud AC so with dual pane windows, awnings and two Max-Air fans going, we rarely use AC. Wow, 15% increase. They better have some great cabinet latches. I just traveled from PA to Phoenix and back to TX enroute home and have gone through five. Only have one spare left.

On my 2017 2552, our electric valves have handles in case of problems. But your do have to crawl under the coach.

General Discussion / Re: Ladder

We hang bikes on the ladder and chairs in the toad when towing. We have a hitch bike rack and hang chairs on the ladder when solo.
