General Discussion / Re: Gray tank auto switch continues to blink

You do NOT have disconnect any wires to open the gate valve manually. You just take the black plastic handle off the actuator shaft, push the actuator shaft out of the way and reinstall the black handle on the gate valve shaft. You will have to crawl under the camper to get to one of the valves. as to replacing the gears inside the actuator; I called the factory direct and then sent me the round gear and the straight rack gear free. I froze mine in cold weather and broke both grey and black valve actuators. Wasn't a hard job, just lying on your back having dirt fall in your face.  https://forum.phoenixusarv.com/Smileys/emotes/pyho.gif

Hard to quantify. It is MUCH quieter than the Dometic Tornado that comes with the PC. When it cycles, it doesn't THUMP and shake the whole camper. It sounds like a small motor spinning up (which it is). While running, it is well worth the money IN MY HUMBLE OPINION. It may not be yours.

Just got home from Florida. We had about 10 days in the high 80's and  two days that were 91. The Houghton a/c kept our 2552 nice and cool set at 74 degrees and cycled on and off as normal. Very happy with it. Back in PA now and PC is in the barn. Dang.

Probably the "sail switch". Very common problem and easy to replace. It is just a small flapper that senses airflow before the flame can ignite.

I didn't think so either. I am now in Florida waiting for new gears from Baxter manufacturing to repair the electric dump valves. :'(

Just got back from a cold and snowy trip the Cleveland, OH where I had the Houghton A/C unit installed. They gave us a demo prior to installation. Amazingly quiet, has three speeds, dehumidifier mode, and is controlled by a remote. No heat strip. So lay in bed and change the temp. The temp you set is displayed on the outlet; speaking of which is thinner than the Dometic by an inch giving me more headroom. I'm 6'3". It is just below the interior lights by half an inch. They installed it in about six hours, have a nice lounge, and invite you to look at their high end Class B units. Advanced RV units are very high tech, high end units. They have a 2016 used unit with 16000 miles 4X4 MB loaded for a mere $254,000. We are off the Florida  ;) next week so will write about how well it works (or not) Cost was just over $2800 with tax. A little high but I cannot sleep with that Dometic tornado roaring overhead.

We have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. This model comes with the two speed transfer case (Low-High range) and lockable rear differential. The best part for towing is that there is a small push button on the console that you push with a pen or small pointy thing and the transfer case goes to neutral. I have not have any problems with "death wobble", use a RVI brake that plugs into the center console. For tow lights , I use a Towmaster light bar which is wireless and power it with a small jump start/compressor (Walmarts for $50). Jump start battery will power the lights for a week of driving if you shut them off a night. I have not looked but there should be some used ones coming up for sale.

General Discussion / Satellite TV
« on: November 30, 2018, 06:26:53 pm »
Headed for Florida on the 15th for 2 to 3 months to let double knee replacement heal. Longest trip ever. We have been thinking of getting satellite TV but have many questions. We see Dish has a program were you can call to turn it on and off. Is Dish or Direct better. How about antennas, roof top or carry out.  I see some info that you can only get local stations on the western satellites; true or false. Any thoughts on systems, equipment, or where to buy. Thanks. :help

General Discussion / Re: PC 3100 Slide Out Problems
« on: November 28, 2018, 05:30:14 pm »
I am surprised. I have owned two PC's, a 2351 and a 2017 2552 and have had very little problems, One was a bad microwave and a leaking slide. They installed a new microwave and a complete new seal system. Something must be changing at the factory. More workmanship like this and we will end up owning orphans.

I am wondering is any PC owners have had experience with a/c units sold by Advanced RV. Our a/c installed on out 2017 2552 is so loud and thumps when it cycles we rarely us it.  Anyway, we have looked for a quieter and more efficient unit and found Advanced RV sells a unit from Australia that is three times quieter and 20% more efficient. Price is high, $2741 installed and waiting list is long. February at the earliest. So will install it myself. I know most of the problems on installation (240 volts/50cycles vs our 120 volts/60 cycles, etc) but would like to hear from anyone who has actually heard, seen, or felt this unit. Thanks (WH)

try behind the kick panel on drivers side for a connector. Mine then went up behind dash to another connector. You may also find an in-line fuse there also that powers the camera. mine was on a 2351. happy hunting.

General Discussion / Re: What's behind the front TV?
« on: October 07, 2018, 08:46:33 am »
My previous PC, a 2351, had an intermittent squeak that drove me nuts. So Have had the TV down several times. My TV was mounted by six long screws, three per side that are accessed in the front cabinets. They remove easily using a drill with a square head driver. Caution!!, get someone to hold the TV up  while you remove the screws. The TV is not very heavy and once it is loose, just remove the wires  and it is loose. This will expose paneling that is stapled and runs left and right into the cabinets. To remove this paneling, you must take the trim from the rear panel of the cabinets. It looks like wood but is styrofoam and breaks easily. My panel had a joint in the middle and was easy to remove. And what do you find behind the panel. Not Much. Some 120 volt Romex, 12 volt wires and some insulation. I wrapped all of my wiring in pipe insulation and glued the insulation. I didn't find my squeak on this side of the cap. As I posted in the past, It was the rubber seals outside on the cap and the Ford cab rubbing together. While you have the panel off, this exposes the top of the A pillar which is the post from the hood to the cab in front of the door. I had a mouse in the camper and found the critter came up from the engine compartment and into the front right cabinet. So shoot  some foam down into the hollow to keep critters out. Some wires also travel down these spaces and foam will keep them from rattling. good hunting.
