General Discussion / Re: Exterior silicone

I contacted PC a few years ago on what to use. They told me they use Dicor. 502 self leveling for the roof and the cap and lap non sagging sealants on the rest.  I hate Dicor products. Nothing but a dirt magnet. All my sealant is damn near black. On the roof where it canít be seen is no big deal but the rest makes your rig look like a pile of. So once again I need to remove old sealant and start over. Hopefully Geocel is a better product.

Anyone know of an easier way to pull the old caulking. Razor etc is risky to doing damage. Would mineral spirits or goo gone for caulking work?

My 2 cents.  And Iím using SWAG here big time.  I go along the line of WillLoyds route. The one caveat Iíd throw out there is check into one of those shops that do major car restorations and body chops etc.. If anyone could fabricate a replacement of that cutaway roof and have it structurally sound my bets on them.  Now the cost I would have no idea but cheaper than replacing the entire cab Iíd assume.

Again, Iím just throwing out an idea. Could be the worst idea ever.

DaveÖ I figured there had to be more to the picture than what I was seeing.  Thanks for the clarification. I hope it does the trick

Must be the picture angle. How do those two brackets stop it from the cat being cut and slide out? Iíve seen pics showing where they cut the cat clamp cables defeating that as well.

One owner where I store took a small livestock water tank. Cut it down to fit, raises his rv with levelers and places it under the cat then lowers the RV back down. He had rebar welded on the tank as well. Extreme it seems but you canít see the cat and that rebar is a bear to cut through.  Obviously he did it for storage purposes and itís not something you drag along with you but it shows how fed up some owners are.

Steve, no I do not. Units covered in storage. Installed 3 years ago and itís holding up great.  About all I can give you.  Send me your email and when I pull it out of storage Iíll send you a pic if you still want it

I installed Berber carpet.  Pulled out the current carpet (was not glued down)and used it as a template to cut the Berber. Easy Peasy,  inexpensive and looks great.

I have had Triple A for 36+ years.  I have used them literally dozens of times. They have never failed me l. It has never been a case of get it done and ask for reimbursement. Not once! Itís always been one call and they take care of it and let me know when the help will arrive. In Ca I can expect service in 30 minutes. If I need a flatbed usually in 45 minutes. The exceptions are when thereís been a major freeway accident that causes delays. And in the case of a delay they give me frequent updates. Out of state I had to wait over an hour for tire service but I was 45 miles from the nearest tow service.  Again, I call an 800 number and they make all the contacts. I never show the service anything other than my triple A card and drivers lic. Iím good with that. I have not one complaint on triple A service so far with maybe the exception being itís not cheap.  But then how often do you find anything good thatís cheap.

Several options. More so if your electric valves still work. If you donít want or donít use the macerator itís connected via a bayonet mount. Couldnít be any simpler to remove. Add a 5 or 7Ē bayonet extension and you now have a easy place to connect your slinky at the side vs the rear. If you need to keep your current black or gray valve open you can also add a bayonet mounted valterra gate waste  valve to either the rear or side discharge point. I added one to my rear discharge because on the few times I chose to use it removing the cap always dumped some crap (so to speak). I added this years ago and itís been flawless.

So donít go tearing up everything or cutting pipes unless you simply enjoy aggravation. Thereís easy work arounds.

The twist on bayonet valterra waste valve runs around $22-23. A 5Ē bayonet ext for the side is around $10.

Weíre looking at doing the exact same thing, just in a different state.

Volk, I live in the the Coachella Valley.... (Palm Springs Ca area) all resort and damn near every yard except mine palm trees. Hate those damn Rat dens. Then to add insult most of my neighbors have fruit trees which they never harvest so a feeding ground. Worst is the Lemon trees which produce fruit 3-4 times a year.

Pests, be it insects or rodents are everywhere. Once in Saudi Arabia, way out in the dunes away from Jeddah, with nothing but sand for miles a can of soda is spilled and soon out of now where it's covered in ants. Bizzare; You are never truly alone.

We had Rats get in our attic about 4-5 years ago. You could hear them all night scratching and running around. Drove us and the dog nuts. Set traps. Caught one then they wouldnít go near them again regardless of bait. Exterminator wanted to set traps and bait stations at a huge cost.

I read everything I could on ways to drive them out. Not sure how I come across it but I found a thing called the TR3 on Amazon. Multiple speaker ultra sonic repellent. The company responds within hours on questions and goes beyond in helping. They do say however their success rate with squirrels is about 75%. I installed it late in the day once I wired an outlet in the attic. That night allllll night we were kept awake by the rats running back and forth and squealing! We have not had an issue with anything in the attic since. I was never able to locate how the got in.

This device wouldnít have any effect outside but for anyone storing in a building it might help.

Regarding the company.  After 4 years the device started to get where you could hear it. I ordered another and mentioned how the one I had was acting. They sent me a replacement for it.

WillLoydÖ nothing wrong with trying another flavor. For 59 years I rode motorcycles. I was never brand loyal. Their nothing more than tools and I tried as many as I could over the years. Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Husky, Harley and so on. I rode the last one 190,000 miles in 5 years so I was no collector. Some were good some were great some not so much, but I had fun with all of them. So go have fun in what ever floats your boat, youíve earned it.
