General Discussion / Propane fill round up.
« on: April 16, 2022, 06:31:42 pm »
So today I drove our baby all shined up and pretty to the local RV dealer to top off the propane. Only needed 4.5 gallons but when I went to pay, they charged me for 5.0 gal.  I asked what was going on and they said they round up/down to the nearest whole gallon.  I said “that is theft” and they offered to credit me the $1.50 back ($3.0gal), and I politely declined as I walked out.  Nowhere did it say that they utilized this process.  Needless to say, I will not return there.  This is a big dealership as well.  Not your “mom/pop” RV shop.
My question is, is this standard practice or not?

General Discussion / Exterior silicone
« on: April 12, 2022, 05:57:08 pm »
Hi all. I want to do some updating /repair of the exterior silicone at random places of the coach . Any thoughts as to which type of silicone to use for best results. I could just use a generic clear exterior silicone, but am wondering what others are using.  Hopefully the attached photo is clear but those are some of the areas I need to repair.

General Discussion / Generator Priming.
« on: February 07, 2022, 12:24:01 pm »
Hi, me again. Curiosity question.  Reading through the Onan manual (4K RV QG) and watching YouTube videos, I cannot find where it says how long you should prime your generator prior to cold start. They all say “once you prime your generator….”  It does say 30 seconds in the manual; however, that is if you ran out of fuel or you drained the carb empty.
So, question is, how long do you normally prime when cold starting in a normal situation when you shut the generator off yourself the night before? Just curious because… “inquiring minds want to know”.  LOL
Thanks,
Steve.

General Discussion / Anxiously waiting
« on: January 19, 2022, 11:03:06 pm »
Hi all,
Today I hooked up the Jeep to the PC (she’s not all polished up this year yet) for the first time to “test” fit and see how she looked. This year will be the first time it will be pulled behind the PC. I found that I need a 4” riser so I will order the Roadmaster 048-4 tomorrow. I also noted that the coiled safety cables were a smidge snug (extended) when attached.
What’s the word on adding a 12”-24” cable extension to each cable as long as it is secured to the other cable and vehicle so they won’t separate?
Your thoughts and experience are much appreciated.  I’m sure I know the answer though.  LOL.

General Discussion / RV anti-freeze question
« on: December 27, 2021, 11:30:12 am »
So the Seattle area is really cold (for Washington) at the moment with snow.  My 2552 is sitting in the driveway winterized but I am not comfortable with it.  I blew out and drained all the lines and the pink RV antifreeze is slushy in the toilet.  I am concerned that there may be some residual water sitting in the lines that may have been missed which does not have antifreeze in them.  Is there any issue with leaving a small space heater running in the coach just to keep the chill off? Maybe even one of those portable oil radiant heat ones?  Not sure how effective that type would be.  Suggestions?

General Discussion / Jeep (Toad) braking system
« on: October 12, 2021, 11:03:28 am »
Hi all. I have a 1992 Jeep Wrangler that I want to use as a Toad on my 2012, 2552.  This Jeep was used as a Toad by one of the previous owners as some of the wiring and break-away switch is still present; however, I am not sure what system it was.  Does anyone have an early model year Wrangler that is used as a Toad, and if so, what Braking system do you use?
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.
Thanks

General Discussion / What do you do while camping
« on: August 23, 2021, 09:19:54 am »
Hi all, I hope this is in the right place for this type of discussion.  I am curious as to what people do for entertainment / activities while camping.  Let me start off with a small caveat.  We are not new to camping, but we are new to the class B+ style of RVing and we are not currently set up with a TOAD / boat / kayak, etc., so activities are limited. We used to camp with our travel trailer.  We are working on Kayak’s and a TOAD though.
Currently, we go hiking when / where applicable and go for walks with our Boxer dog, play cards, watch movies and relax, but that is about it.
So, what do you do while camping with such limitability such as mine?  Not being able to drive around and such.
Thanks for your input.

General Discussion / Full body paint
« on: August 21, 2021, 02:37:28 pm »
Hi ya’all.  LOL. How do I know if my rig has full body paint? The paint transition from white to Sterling has what appears to be an “edge” just like the decals; however, I do see sterling color paint around the exterior furnace cover and other places.  I tried to pick off an area in an inconspicuous area to see if it was a decal, but no luck.

General Discussion / A/C temp
« on: August 05, 2021, 07:03:44 pm »
Question.  What temperatures are you seeing coming out of your A/C right at the duct in the roof? I’m in low 50’s.  I think I may need a charge.

General Discussion / Side door hinge
« on: July 25, 2021, 10:18:06 pm »
Hi all, wondering if anyone has a photo (up close and detailed) of the coach door hinge from the outside?  I noticed on our trip last week that the hinge pin has a small amount of movement which allows the door to become sloppy so to speak.  I put a washer on the underside of the hinge and bolted it back up from the bottom with the single bolt. I am just curious what washers and spacers are supposed to be there.  I do know there are spacer washers for figment but just curious. I did clean and grease the hinge pin with waterproof grease.

Thanks all.  ;)

General Discussion / 2552 stabilizer jacks
« on: July 07, 2021, 08:52:05 pm »
Hi all.  Looked around here a bit for topics on installing stabilizer jacks on my 2552.  They are not really needed, but my wife would like them.  I’m thinking 2 would work.  Any ideas as to where the best place to mount them would be?  Pictures of your 2552 with scissor type stabilizer jacks would be very helpful if possible.
Thanks all.

General Discussion / Heat Strip
« on: June 08, 2021, 09:55:29 am »
Hi all,
Ok, being a new owner of this 2012 PC 2552, I see that the Heat controller had a “Heat Strip” mode.  Can someone tell me exactly what the Heat Strip is and how do I know if I have one?  The manual is NOT clear on this.
Thx

General Discussion / RV door keyless entry
« on: May 23, 2021, 12:45:40 am »
Hi all,

My 2552 has a 4 1/2” X 4 1/2” cut out in the side door.  Has anyone put a keyless entry system in that fits that size opening?  Such as Bauer, RV LOCK, ETC?

If so, what brand / model did you go with and what are your thoughts on the lock?
So far, the Bauer NE will not work due to the size of the lock itself compared to the cut out of my door.
I think the RV Lock model (class A or C) will work but I may have to cut the door cut out even larger.

Any thoughts and links that you may have would be greatly appreciated.

General Discussion / Interior light
« on: May 19, 2021, 10:18:47 am »
Hi all. I have a 2012 2552 and one of the twin tube fluorescent ceiling lights does not work. Any idea where to obtain one?  They are apparently no longer available from Command Electronics (005-394).  I know the wires in the coach are good as I took another light and verified.  Thanks.

General Discussion / Need a new cable
« on: May 09, 2021, 07:20:03 pm »
Today, while pulling out the foot rest on my PC 2552 sofa,  the release cable broke as I tried to release it. Anybody know how or where to get one of these cables?
