General Discussion / 2005 2700
« on: March 16, 2023, 09:55:00 am »
Ya, it's me again.  My question is:   Does a 2005 2700 have a pocket door that shuts off the bedroom?
We're looking again.  Thought we were thru with RVing. NOT!!!!

Thanks, Bob

General Discussion / Farewell
« on: September 03, 2022, 08:26:13 pm »
We have sold our 2008 2350.  Not sure what direction we will be going as far as traveling goes.  Have traveled around the country for the past 14 years and we are a little tired.
I want to thank all of you that have responded and helped me with many questions.  The only thing left to do is sell our toad (2003 Toyota Tacoma).

Again-Thanks

I'm probably not supposed to be doing this, but does anyone know who's RV this is.  I'm sure it is a scam.   Just trying to help.

General Discussion / Roof A/C
« on: May 02, 2022, 10:17:09 am »
Another year - another problem.  Gotta love RV's.  Anyway, my 14/15 yr old dometic penquin, noisy thing is probably on it's last legs (as I am).  Anyway, worked fine until in didn't.  Compressor won't come on.  Will go up topside and check wiring.
Anyway, probably time for a new one.  I see the new ones are around $1500-1800.  If anyone has changed theirs, what brand, model did you change it with?

Thanks, Bob

I know you ain't supposed to sell anything on this site, so how do we reach this audience with things we don't need/want anymore?

General Discussion / Smoke Alarm Relocation
« on: October 23, 2021, 11:15:45 am »
Our 2350 has the smoke detector almost right above your head when standing at the stove.  The thing goes off whenever we use the toaster and sometimes when using the stove.  I know the guidelines state it should be close to where you sleep.  Take away the cab portion of a 24 ft rv and you have about maybe 18 ft left "where you sleep".
Has anyone moved the detector away from the stove area?

General Discussion / Rear Hub Liners-Reminder
« on: September 01, 2021, 02:37:34 pm »
We were coming back from Williams Az heading towards home (Pahrump Nv) and ran over the road vibration things on the shoulder.  Glanced in my outside drivers mirror and see a Hub liner zooming across the highway.  Ya, it was mine off the passenger side rear.   Finally found an off ramp to pull over (towing my Toyota tacoma).  Liner gone.  Inner tire FLAT.  Limped another 45 miles into Kingman Discount tire.  I had valve extenders on.  It snapped the end of the valve stem at the rim.  Anyway, they removed the tire from the rim.  The inside was starting to separate and little particles of tire roaming around on the inside.
4 new tires installed as my Michelins were 6 yrs old.
Advice:   Check hub liners to make sure they are on tight.

BTW, I am trying to convince the wife that I need new rims so my hub cap/liner problem will disappear.

General Discussion / Awning Screws
« on: August 06, 2021, 10:56:30 pm »
I have done a lot of de-rattling.  I think I found the last one.  The awning.  While filling up at the liquid gold station I wiggled the awning.  Yes it was a little loose.  Got and and checked the screws- over half were either loose or striped.
Question-Do they screw into the frame or just the outer skin?  I have a fiamma 45 awning.

I'll sneak another question in.  Sounds dumb-but- is holding tank 1 gray water?

General Discussion / Led Tail Lights
« on: July 28, 2021, 10:29:20 pm »
I don't know how many have led tail lights on their older rv's.  Anyway I was changing mine as my neighbor gave me brand new lights before he got rid of his 18 wheeler.  Whoever installed these lights with the resistor screwed into the back of the lights should not be allowed to work on rvs'.   I attached a picture.  The resistors got so hot that it melted the plastic.  The other light actually was melted thru.  STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!

General Discussion / Entertainment System Wires
« on: July 02, 2021, 09:37:57 am »
I finally got a new entertainment system (Jensen JWM62A)  to replace the original Executive system.  I have wired cars, trucks, RV's etc but the wires in this RV are a little different.  I have all the speaker wires labeled.  There is a very small, maybe 16 guage, black wire.  that is not labled.  I am thinking that maybe it is the radio antenna wire, but not sure.
Also, there is an 8mm connector laying around the floor area underneath the refrigerator.  Is this where the factory sub woofer was installed?  I ask because the current sub is underneath the corner bed.

Thanks, Bob

General Discussion / New Flooring Cover
« on: May 01, 2021, 10:35:02 am »
I finally started the floor covering project.   Not as many staples as I thought.  As you can see in the pictures there was some water leakage.  The wood is not flakey just stained.  I sealed all the outside side panels about 4 months ago.  I believe this is old stains.  Will be using sterling oak lifeproof vinyl planks.

General Discussion / HWH Leveling System Tank Fill
« on: April 09, 2021, 01:44:02 pm »
I finally found the reservoir tank for the leveling system.  Check the level.  It is low.  Question is:  how the heck are you supposed to fill when it has to be filled at the top and you have only about 2 inches-maybe?

General Discussion / Exterior Door Insulation/Rattles
« on: April 01, 2021, 07:08:42 pm »
Got fed up with the blinds on the entry door and took it off today.  Less noise (my opinion).  I believe the door panels are rattling.  Questions:
1.  Is there insulation in the door?
2.  Are there metal or wood beams that run crossways in the door.  If yes.  I can screw the panels to them.
3.  Has anyone put low density spray foam in the door for insulation and to stop the darn noise?

Thanks Bob

General Discussion / Door Stop
« on: March 27, 2021, 06:27:55 pm »
Changed the rubber donut in the door stop attached to the door.   Opened it up and found rust in the bottom part.  Reason is it was mounted with the top of the metal over a lip of the door.  See attached picture with blue circle.  Just enough gap to allow some water intrusion.  Put it back together and sealed the top.  Should be no more water getting in.
