General Discussion / Alcoa Aluminum Wheels

We knew when we ordered our PC that we were going to eventually change out the front and outer rear dual steel wheels with aluminum wheels.  Since we had problems with the rear outer dual valve stems turning on the rims which caused them to slowly loose air from the start, we decided to go ahead and replace them right away to eliminate the problem. 

Based on discussions on the forum and our own research, we ended up going with Alcoa Dura Bright aluminum wheels from the website, buytruckwheels.com.  We chose the Dura Bright wheels over the standard “polished” aluminum wheels that they offer, so we don’t have to constantly polish them to make them look like new.  The Dura Bright wheels have been treated to retain their bright polished look indefinitely.  We had non Dura Bright aluminum wheels on a previous RV and the wheels required regular polishing with a compound to keep them looking like new.  We also replaced the valve stem extensions that came with our unit to straight 3” extensions.

We love the change and we lost a total of 68 lbs, by going to aluminum wheels (without having to go on a diet  ).

General Discussion / Our New 3100, and it fits!

We picked up our new 3100 on June 11, and we are happy to say that it fits in our storage building with plenty of room to spare! Since we downsized from a Class A diesel pusher, we really didn't have any doubts. 

Our entire experience of touring the factory and asking questions, ordering the coach, visiting several times during the build process, working with everyone at Phoenix USA, and picking it up, went very well. We had a reasonable number of customizations, all of which were done exactly as we wanted. We have NO regrets in our decision to downsize. The coach drives really nice, has plenty of space and looks beautiful.

The icing on the cake was during our 4 days at the Elkhart Campground after getting the coach, we were able to meet and and talk to two other PC couples, John and Carrie and John and Maria. Wonderful folks....so happy to be a part of the Phoenix family!

General Discussion / Factory Visit, Update on 3100 Build

We visited Phoenix yesterday to see our coach in production. Dave had contacted us (and sent a photo) to let us know it was in the plumbing area.
We met with both Dave and Barry. They were great, being very patient to answer any questions, explain some things, and let us take a thorough look at it and get pictures. They even watched the dogs as we walked around and in it. The dogs approve of the new coach, btw. We wanted to see how things were progressing, particularly with the "customizations" that we had ordered. Everything was as ordered (at least to this point) and things were looking great.

It was nice to see that the factory floor was packed with new coaches in various stages of build. As with every factory visit we've made, the workers were pleasant and very busy. They have rearranged the layout and use of the factory floor, which really looked good.

We were also impressed with the new waiting room up front for people to chill out while waiting for service, etc. They have refreshments for the people and canines (they even had a nice dog bed for dogs to take a snooze, as they wait with their people). This area is where the receptionists used to sit.

We were really happy with our visit and got great vibes that Phoenix USA is working hard to keep providing us with a great product.

General Discussion / 3100 On Order!

We did it.....we ordered our PC 3100 today!  

We have been wanting to downsize from our 39' Class A diesel pusher for a couple years, but had not seen anything worth considering, until we saw a PC at the Rapid City KOA in the summer of 2016. The owners (we won't mention names; they are members here; they are welcome to identify themselves here, if they choose to) were gracious enough to show us their PC, both inside and out. We were impressed and immediately felt we may have found "the one". So, we have spent the last year and a half doing our homework and planning our purchase (including spending time here with all you fine folks, getting ideas). We put A LOT thought into it and visited the factory three times to see the units under production and to drive a 3100.  We are excited to get our new custom coach in 3 to 4 months. Earl was wonderful to work with.

Did we mention we are excited?! Time to celebrate.

General Discussion / Twin Beds - Shelf Options

We will be ordering our 3100 in May 2018. Like many people, we would love some sort of shelf near each bed for glasses, etc. A plug would be nice for a clock. We don't need connections for the phones, because we don't take them to bed with us.

I saw a recent picture of the shelf over the bed that Jatrax posted. Was this done by PC?

What options do we have and what other ideas do folks want to share?

General Discussion / WeatherTech Liners or Mats

We use WeatherTech Floor Liners in all our vehicles. So, in anticipation of ordering our 3100 next spring, we looked up the E450 on their website to see whether the liners or mats were available. We didn't see either as available, so we emailed WeatherTech. Here's their response (we specifically said for the Ford E450 chassis):

"Unfortunately, we do not manufacture any products for RV’s or motorhomes. We cannot guarantee the fit of our products to your model since we do not test fit to that application. Some manufactures may make changes to the floor."

I see some of you have gotten the WeatherTech mats, from discussions here a few years back.

Has anyone gotten WeatherTech liners or mats for their more current PC's?

Suggestions?
