General Discussion / OLDEST CLASS C RV MAKER CLOSES DOORS
« on: July 03, 2022, 12:42:58 pm »
Steve Newton son of the founder and innovator of the original class C RV maker “Lazy Daze” has announced that after 66 years of building top quality RV’s the company has closed its doors permanently. Known for its very old school way of building RV’s and doing business it leaves a 2 year waiting list of dozens of customers. No definitive reason for closing was given but its expected that in a future announcement that the pandemic and resultant closings, current supply chain issues, and inflation are expected to have played a big part. Prior to the 2009/10 RV meltdown, Lazy daze was producing 50-75 RV’s in three models a year. When the company returned to production the company owner said that he would never again lay off so many of his workers. Hence downsized to keep a core of workers and build 25-30 RV’s a year. It was virtually impossible over the years to buy a used Lazy Daze less then 8-10 years old. Owners held on to them for years. It is not known whether a larger company would buy them. If so it would never be the same RV.

« on: March 30, 2021, 09:20:17 pm »
Sorry for beating a dead horse with same subjet matter every 3-4 months.  Just wondering if any of the 5-7 TRX owners are on the forum and what do they think of the Transit and coach portion.

General Discussion / WINTER CAMPING
« on: August 31, 2019, 01:28:35 pm »
Anyone remember a post about a PC owner winter camping, I believe in upstate NY.  It was about a year to a year and half ago.  I did a search but could not find anything.

They were mentioning temps close to zero degrees and  how the PC performed quite well.   Wanted to forward the post to a friend.

Curious.  Has anyone seen or heard anything about the TRX?  Figured maybe PC is waiting for the all new upgrade 2020 Ford Transit chassis this fall.  Maybe they have put a hold on with the down turn in motorized RV (exception class B) sales the past year.

General Discussion / Lithium Battery Charging systems---Goods & Bads
« on: April 18, 2019, 11:00:52 am »
Interesting reading from a professional Lithium Battery engineer.  Although the article deals almost exclusively with Class B RV's and MB engines, there is references to other class's of RV's and also gas engines.

It should be noted that the Ford Transit diesel engines do not suffer from all the ill's of the MB diesel engine.

General Discussion / Casual Observation-PC Pricing
« on: April 05, 2019, 02:04:32 pm »
Not that anyone (at least me) can ever figure out the methods and algorthm's manufactures and dealers go through to set RV pricing. I thought I would try to do a little comparison on the posted prices of PC's on RV trader.

IT APPEARS THAT........

1-The 2019 units for sale at Campers Inn locations are advertised at MSRP prices and match fairly closely the PC "pricing program" on the PC website.  This also considers that the dealer has added a destination charge and probably some other dealer prep items.  So posted prices are before any discounting.

2-The 2019 units for sale at the Elkhart factory location are advertised (I am almost positive) at discounted prices.  Within 2%-3% of the PC "pricing programs" final factory direct pricing for the models sampled.

So whats this tell me. I dunno?    I was just getting a little confused about the disparity in pricing between the factory and dealers.  Now it kind of makes sense to me. (cheer)

General Discussion / New 3100 for sale at Campers Inn
« on: February 11, 2019, 07:28:46 pm »
New 3100 at Campers Inn.  MSRP is the same as fully loaded, with liquid springs on PC pricing list before discount price of $156,000.  Wonder what you can get at Campers Inn.  Could produce a little confusion with folks doing a comparison between factory direct and bartering with Campers Inn....maybe not?
