General Discussion / spacing of screws on slide out facing
« on: June 17, 2021, 12:51:57 am »
Wondering if any of you who have had service at the factory lately have been told the screws needed to be closer together on the facing trim on the slideout  The work on mine was done without asking (and of course while charging me for the time).  I was told after the fact that Schwintek had said PC needed to do this.  But I note the visual provided of the 2021 model on their web site still had the spacing at 12 inches.  I haven't been able to find out when this new requirement supposedly happened.  But certainly regardless of why it was done, it seems that it should have been done in a quality manner - rather than having the new screws wandering up and down instead of in line.  Permanent damage to the way my RV now looks.  Not exactly an indication of a quality build for those who stop to see my unit in the campgrounds.  I am wondering about the veracity of the story about Schwintek.  Any of you heard of this or had them make that change on your unit while it was in for other service?

General Discussion / PEX vs. PVC - curious
« on: June 03, 2021, 06:26:26 pm »
Back when I was getting started on finding my RV, I did the factory tour with Earl.  When he mentioned PEX, I asked more questions - my grandfatherr had taught me plumbing with various types of pipes and this was new to me.  He took me to the plumbing nook and showed me the parts they used and talked about the advantages.  Fast forward to my recent plumbing issues.  When they were showing me the lines that go thru below the wardrobe,  :beg it isn't PEX.  It is PVC.  So I am curious if you guys know which your rigs have and how PEX disappeared from the time of the tour to the build.  Changes the type of problems/fixes to anticipate behind a wall it seems.  Not saying one is better than the other, just another surprise in my RV life.

General Discussion / Domestic Fan control with a mind of its own
« on: June 02, 2021, 10:55:11 am »
Turned on the A/C so it would kick in if the RV got hot while I was gone (dog was to be here). Fan was on Auto, where it always is.  The fan turned on immediately, even though the A/C was not necessary and the compressor was not on.  If I change to HI, Low, etc. you can hear the fan change speeds.  If you go back to Auto it keeps running at its last speed.

Anyone know if there is something I can do to convince this thing to run correctly?  Sorry, I tried to add a picture of the control and it isn't loading.

General Discussion / joke catches up with me
« on: May 14, 2021, 05:34:20 pm »
Back when I first bought my RV I soon after had problems with the "new" style TV antenna not working right.  I called in and talked to Kermit (he was still there though the deal was already done).  He said could I go out amd make sure the antenna was up there. I thought he was kidding but he said no they had already had one fly off.  Well they had to fix mine twice because it would refuse to rotate.  Tonight the joke has caught me.  I went  to see if I could check the news and things were not right.  No antenna!  On the other hand, there is NO problem rotating the knob inside the cab now.

General Discussion / Feedback on Campers Inn support?
« on: May 11, 2021, 05:54:18 pm »
I know there were lots of questions etc when it was first announced that Campers Inn would be handling PC sales and on those sales, any warranty work.  I was surprised recently to see just how many Campers Inn locations now handle PC.  I am looking for feedback on how that seems to be working out for repairs.  How has warranty work gone?  Are any of you using these folks for repairs beyond warranty?  I would really like to find a place or places that I could go with issues like electric where someone is supposed to know just how the wiring is in a PC.  When I am again able to move about more, it would be nice to know if getting to these folks would be a good idea.  At the moment family concerns are generally keeping me close to PA so the Fredericksburg might work.  I haven't yet figured out the PA location - the PC map shows it well away from Philly but Campers Inn seems to refer to it as being in Philly (No I wouldn't drive into Philly in my RV dragging my car).  The one in Leesburg FL would be handy when I do get to winter in FL again.  So far I have no plans to make it out west, and I know it may be too soon to get feedback on La Mesa.  Appreciate any feedback folks have to share.  Finding a good repair/troubleshooter when out on the road is still the biggest stress point.  Thanks

General Discussion / New Building overnight
« on: April 26, 2021, 07:52:57 pm »
In case any of you are also due in Elkhart for repairs soon, I just found out they still have not gotten electric to hookup to spend the night at the factory.  Pointed me to the Elkhart campground instead.

General Discussion / how to get to the hidden water lines - 3100
« on: November 12, 2020, 09:44:58 am »
I have developed a water leak when I am connected to a water line.  I checked the pumbing connections under the passenger side bed and don't find it there.  It seems to be coming from where the water lines disappear from there into the wall of the closet area.  I did leave a message at the factory but thought I would give the forum a try also.  This is a 2017 3100.  Does anyon have experience with getting to those water lines once they disappear into the walls?  I see the floor of the closet has screws but the trim appears that it would still block that being removed.  How does one work on the water line without doing demo to the bathroom walls?  Or what is the least destructive way to get a look into the walls.  Thanks.

General Discussion / to be fair
« on: July 31, 2020, 08:46:11 am »
You all have heard from me when I have been frustrated with the factory. It is only fair to give credit when due.  Keith called me first thing this morning on my odd blue fluid question from yesterday evening.  I appreciated the quick response and reassurance that nothing horrid was going on with the mechanics of my unit and I was safe to get "home".

Wonder if PC would ever consider doing a "boot camp" we could sign up for(and pay for).  A more in-depth look at what goes where behind the walls.  More details about how we should care for all the parts and some info on things they most get calls about and what we might do to help ourselves if possible.  Obviously it would work best for those who more recently got a unit as I know systems change and they can't teach the whole history of systems. Still I would show up for that!  I had a basic understanding of my city house and would love to feel more knowledgeable about how the parts all work here.

General Discussion / 3100 electric scheme?
« on: February 28, 2020, 08:54:05 am »
Sorry to bother y'all again but I need to plead again about whether any 3100 owner has ever been able to get information from PC about the wiring/fuses for the 12 volt system.  :help While I was able to disconnect the wires from the front fan control board to stop the fan and vent opening mechanism from working, that doesn't stop the power to that fan from still causing the outbursts where the light goes on and off  and the mechanism is trying to do something on its own.  I also realized during one of those episodes that the lights on the panel that should report fluid levels had all come on by themselves which makes this seem more like a general wiring issue rather than just a problem with the control board in the fan.  Obviously, something isn't right.  Tried reaching out to Dave explaining all that was happening - asked about the fuses - specifically asked  for information on what each fuse controlled (pulling fuses wasn't stopping my issues).  Asked about the wiring scheme to understand any relationship between the fan and the level gauge.

Bad news was that the call I got came from a person there with whom I have already had bad encounters. Saving all the back and forth we had again this time, what he told me is he didn't know what fuse went to that fan.  He didn't know why this would happen - it shouldn't.  And I could look for a red wire.  Really - why have this guy call me if he didn't know the answer.

I wrote back to Dave again about my frustration and my concern about my issue and the danger it might portend.  Was there only ONE red wire in the coach that locating it would tell me which fuse?  Was I supposed to take apart the bed to get to the back of the fuse box to look for it? I asked again for the fuse and wiring scheme.

Dave didn't answer at all.

So, I am hoping someone out there with this model has gotten that info at some point.  How I miss Kermit and the days when you could get a clean, fast, correct answer because he KNEW how the RVs were built and cared about getting answers we needed to us.   All of us, not just some customers.  Back when I was looking to purchase, a point of pride at the company had been things like the same person ran the same wiring runs in every RV for years.  There really has to be someone there who knows where wires run and what each of the fuses does.   A person who actually knows that could quickly provide the answer, but I can’t reach a person who knows.

If anyone has the information it would certainly help me to get someone started in the right spot to clear up these odd happenings rather than shooting in the dark trying to figure out what run of wiring goes where inside these wall and ceilings to see what isn't right.  Sorry for my frustration.  Thanks for any help you can provide.

General Discussion / Lippert motor - can you use?
« on: February 20, 2020, 10:57:19 am »
During my travels I had a slide out quit working.  Of course in a location without too many repair options.  We did discover the issue was that the wiring on one motor had shorted out.  Mine was one of the first with the new Lippert slides and the wires had been kinked in the wall and apparently rubbed thru with enough travel time.  Anyhow - of course they didn't have that motor but  a different model. (had I known at the time that they would not be able to get back any sooner than they did, I could have ordered in the right one), so that meant I had to replace both motors.

All that to say I have a functional Lippert motor that will do me no good.  Since I am finally sitting still where I can get to a post office, I figured I would see if anyone needs this.  If I understood correctly I thnk Phoenix may have changed to a different model at some point.  This is the Lippert part # 236575.

General Discussion / 12 volt wiring scheme?
« on: February 02, 2020, 04:39:22 am »
Hoping some of you 3100 owners can help me.  I did switch out the three vent fans for Maxxair Fans when I had this built  The front one has lost its little mind – keeps trying to cycle on the auto start setting and tries to function but then cycles back off.  None of the buttons or settings are changing this behavior.

Since I am spending the winter in PA I obviously don't need or want the fans running.

I thought I might be able to pull a fuse and just take it out of action, but I am not able to read the words scribbled on the panel.  Do any of you have a legible listing for the 12 volt system in the 3100?

Of course it would be great if there was a fuse that went to the fans without undoing anything else but that is probably too much to ask for.

I will contact the factory next week but I was hoping someone here might have an answer so I can stop this sooner.  Hopefully I am posting a picture with this.

Thanks in advance.

General Discussion / Always new things to learn
« on: December 17, 2019, 08:44:33 pm »
I am sitting still for a while and therefore finding that it doesn’t take much to amuse me.  Although I am in civilization the TV reception can be a bit iffy, which isn’t a big deal.  But I couldn’t figure out why the channel I watch for news in the morning would suddenly go out.  It took it happening in the evening for me to catch on (no, apparently, I am not a morning person).  This channel goes out every time I turn on the light over the sink and comes back in as soon as I turn the light off.  None of the other lights or any other electrical items for that matter make it happen.  Nor does that light affect the reception on the other channels.  No clue why.  Just a reason why I know I will never fully understand my home.  It will always be an adventure.

General Discussion / Long term PC living in the north
« on: October 21, 2019, 06:08:33 am »
I know some of you FT folks have faced times where you had to stay put long term for family issues, etc.  I am preparing for that scenario in South central PA.  Having lived there for years I know how cold it can get.  I have read the topic about winter camping and the advice there.  I was wondering if any of you who faced the long term life holding pattern had advice on ways you further set up your Cruiser to sit still all winter while you lived in it.  I know other RVs at that park have large stationary propane tanks that somehow feed into their units.  I assume some form of skirting will be necessary with some added warmth produced underneath.  I appreciate any life experiences of this nature you can share.

General Discussion / Build weight
« on: December 28, 2018, 10:39:18 am »
I was coming to the forum to report after a 4 corner weigh.  I saw there was a user referring to another link from his post about slideout issues.

For a number of reasons it was awhile before I was in a location to get a 4-cirner weigh on my 3100.  It would appear the design on this makes it hard to NOT exceed the rear axle limits.  I did have the leveling Jack's on mine.  This was under the previous Dale's group but at the time I could not get a clear answer about the weight that added.  I also have two solar panels that are towards the rear, again don't know the weight.  But to meet corner weight limit, can't have fresh water and certainly need grey and black empty.  And don't even plan on packing the rear storage areas.

For the sake of the future purchasers, wondering if there are folks who had the for corner weigh before they started actually using their RV's.  Perhaps we could get those posted here.

Even better would be if PC could give those values on a generic build of ach model and then have available the weights of the components for their standard options.  That would allow a person sine important info as they were contemplating their build.
