General Discussion / Twin bed headboard
« on: July 22, 2017, 12:04:06 pm »
So the headboard just fell off, was held on by a few staples.
Not having such a staple gun as Phoenix need another method to reattach.
Anyone do this already or have a suggestion?
Thanks.

General Discussion / Should have built on E450
« on: July 16, 2017, 01:44:31 pm »
Just weighed our slightly extended 2400 at Cat scale.  Lightly loaded with us, clothes mostly, 3/4 fuel, full water, empty holding tanks.
Front axle 3680# or 74%
Rear axle 8360# or 98%
GVW 12040# or 96%
Was thinking of adding Sumosprings to lift the rear but still couldn't even add the weight of a scooter or a cargo rack.
Suggest anyone ordering a PC larger than a base 2100 should at least consider the E450.

Adventure Anywhere / Deception Pass SP Washington
« on: July 11, 2017, 02:14:25 am »
Never camped in an old growth forest among huge conifers hundreds of years old before.  Just wonderful, that is till the planes start flying.  The campground is right beneath a military practice area where they fly low and lower including occasional sonic booms.  Hang on, 11pm here now and I don't hear anything.  At last, its quiet.
Spoke too soon, they're back.

General Discussion / Inverter location?
« on: April 16, 2017, 04:35:35 pm »
Would like to add a second battery bank primarily to power the inverter reserving the coach batteries for the furnace and other essential 12v loads.  A marine battery switch could feed power to the inverter from either battery bank but probably not appropriate to select Both given different type, age, proximity etc.  But I've yet to locate the inverter,  anyone know?  Thanks.

General Discussion / Bad solution to hear TV over too loud A/C
« on: December 08, 2016, 11:30:11 am »
Brilliant son decided to add headphone amp and cables to jack on back of TV, but required removing TV for access.  Now TV rattles due to screws not going back exactly and the wood supports splitting and loosening attachment.  Love him but never should have let him touch our PC.  Anyone else remove and reinstall a TV and need to repair the wood, what did you do?

General Discussion / Better ride adding air bags
« on: December 01, 2016, 04:58:18 pm »
Anyone add or know someone added rear air bags?  Looking at Kelderman 2-stage rear suspension,  seems should work better than just adding helper air bags as the Firestone or others.

General Discussion / Check your HWH leveler reservoir
« on: September 28, 2016, 03:08:07 pm »
So waited till my HWH leveler malfunctioned to check its fluid level.  MISTAKE, it was over a quart low.  Not easy to check, mine is inboards the generator and propane tank but has a full indicator pin hole on the fill/breather cap.  A mirror and small funnel helped.  I used the OK to use Dexron transmission fluid.  The Napa guy said he sells a lot for this.  If just peek under and if the tank is dirty with oily grime the cap could be loose like mine and losing fluid.  Should also check just to get familiar where the manual retract valve levers are just in case.

General Discussion / More battery power, please
« on: September 15, 2016, 08:47:52 pm »
3rd time this summer could not start generator in the morning.  Wife plays tv and DVDs for several hours in evening and on a cold night the furnace uses the remaining battery power.
Has anyone done a larger battery bank?  Think I need 4 six volts but can they be separated or need to find a new location for battery bank?
Hear should be close to the inverter, is that behind drivers seat on wing wall?
Another option may be to just add a cheaper starter battery for generator, anyone add a 2nd battery underhood or in another location?  Perhaps could be wired in parallel with existing 12 volt battery.
Appreciate your experience or ideas.

General Discussion / Ford Transit RV?
« on: August 19, 2016, 08:52:19 am »
Was recently at PC for service and saw a Transit cutaway chassis with modifications.  Earl said was Kermit's project but didn't have more details of it.  So if you're a fan of smaller motor homes there could be a new alternative available.

General Discussion / Thermostat requires rebooting
« on: August 08, 2016, 09:56:11 pm »
Our AC works ok for a while then it just won't turn on no matter how hot it gets inside coach.  The easy fix is to turn off thermostat and turn back on to AC but when it shuts off due to cooling down to the set point then it won't turn back on.  Pulling the fuse for the thermostat for a minute seems to reboot it and then works ok but only temporarily.  Any ideas beside just replacing thermostat?  Thanks.

General Discussion / Facebook users and Phoenix Cruiser
« on: May 27, 2015, 11:06:29 am »
Recently joined Phoenix Cruiser (closed group) for more discussion but not much going on, less than 40 members contrast to a Roadtrek page with over 4k.  I'm sure with FB's easy to use app on smart phones folks would be inclined to post more pics and the fun stuff they're doing with their PC's so everyone please join and try it out.

General Discussion / To owners of 2400
« on: March 15, 2015, 08:47:27 am »
We're considering the 2400 but with different layout upfront.  Would help to know a couple dimensions.  Would someone measure length from the refrigerator cabinet forward along the floor to the cab entrance, i.e. the point where the floor drops, also on opposite side from forward side of wardrobe to cab entrance.  Thank you.

General Discussion / If you build it they will come
« on: November 08, 2014, 11:15:47 am »
Have to say I'm impressed with the extent PC will go to customize.  Lazy Daze won't even add a convection microwave and cook top in lieu of the oven/range.
My delima is I need a longer MH that drives like a shorter one, also am concerned with the chassis mods to lengthen the wheelbase beyond the original Ford 176".
See that Coachhouse builds a 2551 size model on the 176" chassis so expect PC could do similarly.  Of course this means a longer rear hangover with its issues of dragging and swing out, but should turn much shorter.
I'd be especially interested in owners experiences trading up from shorter PCs to longer ones, any driving adjustments required?
