General Discussion / Battery explosion
« on: October 11, 2016, 12:48:24 pm »
We just had a trip a month or so ago in the 2551.  Everything was fine.  Got home the steps failed, or partially did.  Sometimes they work, sometimes not.  So we need to get a number for a new motor.  However, yesterday I heard a loud explosion.  Smelled a sulphur smell and found it to be a house battery.  We leave it plugged in to shore power.  Is that a bad idea for some reason?  These may be the originals, no way of knowing.  It's a 2010.

What size batteries do I need for this replacement.  They still test fine BTW.  Go figure.  Glad nobody got hurt.

General Discussion / Music while traveling options
« on: July 04, 2016, 07:15:39 pm »
Our radio is not new enough for Sirius.  There are no jacks to plug in an iPod.  I love music.  We can play the bluetooth iPod now with the DVD/Blue Ray player.  Does it work on the inverter while traveling without the generator working?

Also, if you use the inverter that much, does it wear down the batteries?  House??

General Discussion / Modified the back DVD for cosmetics
« on: July 01, 2016, 09:44:07 pm »
We didn't like the DVD player over the back bed in the 2551 being so exposed underneath so DH built a frame for it.  I'm so please how it turned out.

General Discussion / New recliners in place of sofa/bed
« on: July 01, 2016, 09:41:38 pm »
While in Amish country we had these recliners made to replace the couch.  We opted for the side trays we eat on or use the computer on.  We are very happy we changed.  So comfortable.  They lie back far too.

General Discussion / TV remodel, DVD replacement and volume issues
« on: July 01, 2016, 08:41:34 pm »
So we had to buy a new DVD player.  Kermit gave us the model number of the Blue Ray units that are now used and we ordered one online. Unfortunately it comes with all the speakers and we didn't need them.  We have the surround sound addition in our 2551.

We've always complained that the volume of the TV is poor and with the A/C running we cannot hear it.
Discovered today when we removed the flat screen (to attach new HDMI connection) all the speakers are behind the padded trim piece at the bottom.  We even found a center speaker behind it.  With the trim piece off, the volume increases by at least 50 percent.

Now how to let the sound out and make it look decent.  Any ideas?  We have a piece of cherry wood that matches and the padded piece to make a different cover.  We need a vented place to let the sound out, (speaker grill, something) and part of the upholstery needs to be covered up because it's damaged where it attaches.  I'll attach photos of the problem area and the replacement parts.  We need to be creative here.  Hope this helps someone else with sound issues.

I have no idea how to post the photos on my desktop.  I see an image option but what do I do with it?

General Discussion / Inflatable bed

How can I find out the cost of a new inflatable bed for the 2551 couch?  Who makes them and what size is it?

General Discussion / New recliners
« on: August 19, 2014, 08:47:31 pm »
We visited Phoenix in Elkhart and met the wonderful people there along with Kermit.  All our questions and issues were addressed and we highly recommend these folks.  Afterwards, we visited Lambrights' Amish furniture maker in Shipshewana and had him examine our uncomfortable couch situation.  They had a pair of wallhugger recliners that would fit perfectly with a slight modification added to cover the bottom visually.  We will have to put a piece of carpet behind it because you can sort of see back there now.  I am sitting forward enough now that I can actually see the TV, have footrests and each chair came with a computer table that folds down in matching cherry wood.  We selected the leather like fabric that matches the front seats and it looks and feels great.

I donated the sofa to a women's group there but kept the never used air mattress and motor if anybody is interested in purchasing it.

General Discussion / Phoenix at Tampa Super RV show today
« on: January 15, 2014, 06:56:49 pm »
We met several current and one new owner of Phoenix motorhomes at the show today.  Nice people selling the units too.  The new owners got a 2552 and were so happy sitting inside looking it over.  The other folks, have a 2007 2400 I think.  Wish I'd gotten their names.  Seeing all the gorgeous motorhomes there, some up to $2 mil, we are happy with the one we have.  In love!

General Discussion / 2551 Can't get the front seat to swivel.
« on: October 24, 2013, 08:05:57 pm »
  :help
Out for the second time only in our 2551  If I sit on the couch, the wall blocks me from seeing the TV.  How do you get the passenger seat to swivel.  There doesn't seem to be room.

General Discussion / Jensen rear TV issue
« on: July 16, 2013, 08:47:25 pm »
When we bought our used 2551, the remote was missing for the Jensen.  The dealership has ordered us 4 remotes now and none of them work.  They are calling Jensen with the serial number etc. and getting the proper parts but none work.  Any ideas?

General Discussion / Air mattress instructions?
« on: July 05, 2013, 05:27:42 pm »
What brand is our sofa?  I can find no instructions on how to use the air mattress.  I don't want to cause damage to the mattress when we fold it up and the inflator box doesn't seem to fit like I thought it should.  Can anybody pass on instructions to me on folding up of the couch?

Tips and Tricks / Toilet replacement models that fit
« on: June 19, 2013, 10:15:18 am »
Anybody upgrade to elongated china commode in the 2551?  Trying to find one that fits allowing the closet door to swing over it.  Do we need low profile?  Does the footprint work in either Thetford or Dometic styles?

Our ottoman fits behind the driver's seat and stores a bucket of dog food too.  Perfect!
