General Discussion / Generator Not Starting
« on: February 14, 2022, 07:28:42 pm »
Strange thing happening. 12.6 volts at generator, but only get a click after  priming. Start coach engine brings up voltage, generator starts. Perplexed as why 12.6 volts not enough. Checked connections all seems well. Ideas?

General Discussion / Ford 6.8 V10 Chirping Away (2017)
« on: November 27, 2021, 10:44:56 am »
This past summer while chasing sprint cars all over the Midwest and East I began to hear what can be described as a chirping sound on startup and acceleration.  Went to a Ford dealership in Indiana where the diagnosis was belt tensioner.  Unit had 32,000 miles at this time.  Replaced tensioner and belt, $389 later on my way.  About 3000 miles later back comes the chirp.  So we are on the road, but eventually get back to Indiana and return to dealership.  Their diagnosis: "can't really be specific, but seems there is a lot of dust around the belt area".  They suggest cleaning the area: tensioner, pulleys, etc for $500.  My answer in short was  see ya and drove home to Florida.

So after some research on various RV and Ford sites it seems this is a chronic issue.  Further investigation finds that their are 2 different serpentine belt schematics.  Mine has only 1 idler pulley on the passenger side of engine.  Another schematic shows a second idler pulley on the driver's side on the longest unsupported part of the belt.  There is a boss in the block where this pulley would have been.  On many of the forums others have reinstalled this second idler pulley and said it solved the issue.  It is not an expensive part, install seems pretty straight forward.

Just wondering if others have any experience with this issue and/or advice.  Thanks

I know this is not a new topic and have read the applicable previous posts on the subject.  Currently looking at Tire Minder and TST, but open to others.  Just wondering if users have any updates on their experiences (positive or negative) with the units they have installed.

Many thanks, Mike

General Discussion / Extended Lube Device for Slide
« on: October 21, 2020, 10:52:08 am »
Awhile back I posted about trying to lube slideout. Frustration was trying to follow the You Tube Video and the supposed ease of using an extended red tube on the CRC lube.  The good news is I found longer tubes at Aircraft Spruce & Specialty Company. Bad news: tubes were $3.50, shipping $11.79.  The rest of the story: due to the gasket/seals, flexibility of the tubes and difficulty in actually being able to see the recommended spots to lube I am not sure of the actual success, other than the slide continues to work fine.  So it  is done, but difficult to evaluate. pyho

General Discussion / Roof AC Issue
« on: September 14, 2020, 10:47:28 am »
Ok, roof air not working.  Fan comes on, compressor tries to start but does not come on.  A little chronology.

1.  First time:  called tech came and repaired pin whole leak, added refrigerant-worked fine for short while

2.  Second time:  same symptoms, called tech, found a pinched copper tube, added refrigerant worked

3.  Third time:  fan comes on, compressor tries but no start. Now generator begins to stumble and shuts down.  Shows code for needs service ( 96 hours, I serviced at 50} 3 blinks.  Starts and runs with smaller loads, hot water heater, etc.

Wondering if this could be faulty start  capacitor in ac causing overload?  All thoughts appreciated.   pyho

General Discussion / Lubricating Slideout
« on: July 06, 2020, 10:57:25 am »
Ok, watched the You Tube video from Schwintech.  Purchased the recommended CRC product, but it came with only a 4" tube which does not allow you to follow directions from video.Called CRC to see if they had longer tubes, answer is no.  Checked Amazon some are available in 10" but not sure if they are of the same diamaters.  Interestingly enough the CRC rep gets this call frequently and has no idea where Schwintech got the tube in the video.  Thoughts, advice appreciated. pyho

I installed 2 6v Trojan AGM's in the original tray in my 2351.  Specifically got the model that uses a regular bolt terminal that screws into a recess in top of battery, reduces the height. Only mod was eliminating the tie down strap with small diameter Dyneema line using a trucker's hitch.

General Discussion / Re: Sanicon issue
« on: February 10, 2020, 03:07:08 pm »
Not to be repetitive, but I am.  Just remove the entire gray cap so you have a 3" discharge, this eliminates the pressure pushing the hose out of the hole.  Only use garden hose option if there is a need to extend the reach of the permanently attached hose.

General Discussion / AC Not Cooling
« on: October 01, 2019, 02:29:54 pm »
AC  not cooling.  Fan runs.  Checked breaker.  Rebooted thermostat. Had a low voltage error on EMS.  Unit will not cool on generator or shore power. Headed home to FL in a week. Ideas? Capacitor?  pyho
