General Discussion / Re: Tyron Bands - Run Flat Protection
« on: March 04, 2020, 09:13:56 pm »
Yes they are expensive, doing more research, but I have found two l!aces that sell and install them. Will post results by the end of the week.

Got in a situation driving back from the Charleston rally which got me thinking about all this......

Found myself cresting a hill  passing a semi, with another trucker coming up behind me, balls to the wall. After cresting the hill the highway went into a  down hill, right hand sweeper. The semi I was trying to pass let me over as the semi behind me blew past. AO! By then I was outside my comfort zone doing 73+ MPH. It was then that I had the thought, "If I blow a front tire now, we are really screwed!"

Not looking to drive to the next exit with a flat, just getting safely stopped and not end up like the poor guy in the video. Yes, life is not without risk, but now that I've had the vision, and know about the bands, how do I live with myself if something happens and we are injured or worst, but it could have been avoided, but I was too worried about the $$$!

More later,

We will be leaving the Cincinnati area in late August heading west. Traveling through the Dakotas to see the sights, toward Glacier NP for a week. After an overnight stop at Big Sky Brewery (a Harvest Host site) to pick up a few cases of delicious Moose Drool brown ale, feeling on to the West Yellowstone area for 3-4 days. From there???, arriving in Spearfish for the rally.

General Discussion / Re: Banks PowerPack System V-10
« on: October 10, 2019, 02:04:56 pm »
Did some checking....The Stinger System SKU 49162 is available for my 2017 2552 for $949 which includes: high flow oiled air filter, tailpipe, flow-thru muffler, and assorted hangers, and heat shield. The Banks Power Pack (headers) are not available for the 2017 models, but may be available for earlier models.

The web site claims an increase of 32HP - 42lb/ft torque and up to 5% better mpg!

Anyone have first hand knowledge on the Banks System on a present or previous RV they would like to share?I

:beg Looking for information and feed back on the Banks PowerPack System Including: Banks Stinger System & Optional Ottomind for Ford 6.8L V-10 Class C Motorhome.

Meet Dr. Dave at the Charleston rally who has this setup on his new to him, low mile 2017 2910D PC. The previous owner is a 90 year old former NASA engineer.

In his own words, Dr. Dave says " Ideal conditions: Highway speed 62mph, flat and decent highway/interstate roads, no significant against the wind...Towing 11mpg / Not Towing 13 - 14mpg.

A July 21 2017 article in Motor Home magazine talks about an increase of 55.6hp, 69.5lb-ft torque, and 0.5 mpg but doesn't mention what that was in. The test model for the article was a 2017 Tiffin Allegro.

Anyone else have this set up on their PC rig? Pros and Cons (other than $$$) would be much appreciated.

Thanks Garmp,

Called Lakewood CG on Monday, and they had a free on a picnic table....so she said. She said it wasn't nearly as bad as the media was saying. More fake news for the ratings!
It's all about the $$$.  (exactly)

I know it's a little early to be asking....... (exactly)

Is there a backup and refund plan for the rally if the hurricane wrecks things? pyho

We were going to spend a week in the Myrtle Beach area before the rally, so it looks like we will be needing to come up with a plan B. :'(

Here's hoping it stays far off the coast. :beg

Thanks for all the good tips....has any one driven the the Beartooth Pass 212 and/or Chief Joseph Scenic Hwy? We have a 2552 and a Ford Focus toad, and wondering about any driving issues on these roads, other than weather/snow. Will my V10 be red lined up/down hills, brakes smoking?  :help

Thanks again  thousands safe travels,
