General Discussion / Saying farewell

Selling our 2010 2350 on RVT.com.  We love our PC but just can't work up the enthusiasm to get on the highway and fight the traffic to make those long drives!  We've seen so many beautiful places over the years, but are tired of driving.  Hoping to sell the PC so we can put a tiny house at Lake Lure NC.  I have enjoyed reading all the helpful, interesting and occasionally humorous posts these last couple of years on the forum. If we can't sell our PC, then we will just hang on to her and make another trek next spring.  Once we get across the Mississippi, driving is more fun.  If anyone is looking for a good little PC, check it out!  Not many out there and it only has 25k miles.  So this is not really goodbye... I'll be watching you!

For just a brief moment I thought that might be just the thing for us since we hate towing.  I pictured camping in Yellowstone and touring around on the bike.  That ended the dream,  buffalo, moose, bears, oh my! Lol,  Will leave ebikes to younger, braver folk.

We took our seats and sofa at different times to local upholstery. One was part time who had worked in the RV industry, the other had done auto, marine and rv upholstery for most of his life.  The seats look great.  The total cost was under $900.  That is a lot, but also a lot less than replacing the 2 cab seats and a sofa. By doing them in stages, we spread the cost over a year and made sure to match the vinyl or pleather.  We were also afraid to order any seating without "sitting" on it first.  This worked out great for us.

I agree that this, in our instance at least, is not due to hair products, cause the headrests  did not have an issue AND we don't use ANY hair products. For myself, we did not use any cleaners either.  The biggest clue is where the peeling started. Our problem was nothing we could have caused or contributed to.  Sorry Earl.

We purchased our 2010 2350 in 2014.  The front drivers seat was peeling slightly.  Within a year it was so bad that we had to brush ourselves off after getting out.  We had the seat reupholstered. Our guy said it was a very low quality vinyl.  Shortly after, the passenger seat started peeling and deteriated very quickly.  Had it covered.  Then this fall, the sofa started peeling.  It is being recovered as I type.  We never contacted PC since we certainly had no desire to have Paul's seating touch our coach.  We've never had this happen in three prior motorhomes, nor in any vehicle we ever owned.(usually tour cars were leather.).   Our two seats are just like they were the day we picked them up, of course it has only been a couple of seasons on the first seat.  This cost us nearly $1000, still cheaper than buying new seats.  Hopefully this will last us till we are ready to sell.

We fixed our problem with letting me do the backing.  I won't move until my husband motions.  Very little speaking cause he can't hear and I refuse to move until he tells me which way to turn the wheels. It works cause it's the only time he gets to tell me what to. Lol

Beware of AAA RV Plus. AAA is great for cars BUT last I checked, they have regions and RVs might not be covered in some states, or recognized. Ask your agent.  Something about towing to nearest dealer may be an issue.  Can't remember details but we wound up with Good Sams and AAA for our cars, not AAA rv plus.  We have a choice if we get in trouble. Lol

We were there this past October.  Had reservations for Cade's Cove campground.  We did tow since we weren't comfortable with driving even our 2350 on those roads.  While I think you could drive Cade's Cove itself, it can be VERY crowded and parking can be challenging.  There were a couple of places where people had pulled off and parked on both sides of the road that felt a bit challenging to get through in our Ford Escape. The same is true of downtown Gatlinburg, or was before the enormous wildfire that killed 14 people and burned over 1400 structures in November.  I am sure they are desperate for the tourists to come back.  Thousands of acres of forest burned but Cade's Cove was safe. By the way, do not travel the "tail of the dragon" hwy us129 between Cade's Cove and Fontana dam.  One of the most dangerous roads in the US with 318 sharp curves in 11 miles.  It is beautiful almost anywhere you chose to go.

Gail, Sorry to hear you have the problem.  Ours progressed like a virus, from the driver seat, 3 months later to the passenger seat, and now the sofa.  We had both of the front seats recovered and the upholsterer told us that our original fabric was a very cheap, low grade.  We are trying to figure out now what to do about the sofa.  So far we are out $600.  The good news is that we were able to match the existing vinyl.  We can tell a big difference in the feel of the covering.  Keep us updated.

Saw a beautiful PC, maybe a 29 something with full body paint across from us at Huntington Beach state park a couple of weeks ago, just a couple of days before the evacuation because of hurricane Matthew. I too got all excited, but never went over cause we are one of those couples who aren't very outgoing. Lol.

My sofa in the 2350 began to show the dreaded wrinkles, then a tiny little "slit" almost like a cut. (It was not). Few little places when we took off to the beach for three days (evacuated because of Matthew). Drove up to Cade's Cove in the Smokies for 4 days and by this morning there were multiple pieces of vinyl, almost like wrapping plastic, way thinner than any shower curtain vinyl hanging off the seat.  Will try to get some photos of this.  No idea how this  can be recovered as we did with both front seats. Haven't bothered to try Paul's seating again.  Don't want anything they have to offer!

Love your idea. We bought magnets for the fridge, then one of those US magnetic maps and finally we started Christmas tree ornaments from various state and national parks we visit.  Just something to help us remember our travels. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Ron, we visited Acadia NP driving from SC, crossed into Canada for 3 days touring Hopewell Rock, Bay of Fundy and St. Andrews, NB, Ca. And back down to Acadia.  We were in NB starting 10/8/2014 and Acadia by 10/11/14, back to SC by 10/24/2014. Some places were past their peak, but mostly just beautiful.  Visit Hopewell Rock if you get a chance. We found a nice campground not far away.  I posted a pic of our PC at that place as well as one in Bar Harbour made on 10/11.  Gives you a hint of how the fall color might be. Enjoy and be safe.

Margie, the table is made by Catskill craftsman.  It is on Amazon and you can order it directly from the manufacturer as well.  Just type in Catskill craftsman fold-away butcher block table.  Be aware it comes with an oiled finish which was a bit rough and not water/stain resistant so I sanded it & coated it with polyurethane after a few months of use.  We really like it.

These look great.  My husband is always forgetting the keys and just leaves the doors open at home so he doesn't have to keep unlocking them. Thanks for sharing.
