General Discussion / Back Up TV

Hi I have an an 07  and have recently run into a back up camera  problem.. The TV comes on and says zone defense.  There is no picture shown.  I have tried a number of things but no picture.  You think camera is shot?  Its a 5 inch screen made by Zone Defense.  Any siggestions?  Thanks  John

Tips and Tricks / TIRE COVER PAINT REPAIR

At the very top of the tire cover my paint (green)  started to peel off.  It continued to expand.  A complete paint repaitof the cover  would be expensive.  The cover was a solid green but on either side of the back it was white.  After much thought i tried something that worked well.

I took the cover off and sanded the peeling paint.  It covered a good 6 inches.  Next I sprayed with a grey undercoat.  I was able to tape about 1/2 way down to line up with the white. I took the cover off a number of times to make sure the tape was a good line and match with the white. Above the line was sanded lightly with 400 wet /dry papper.  The can of matching white spray was about $7 at a local auto store.  Just the common Ford truck white. Paint number is on the door. I carefully sprayed the top part of cover white.  I put the cover on and the white line across the back all match.  Looks great and cost pennies.

General Discussion / Re: Maserator doesn't work

Ihave an 07 and mine died last year.  Started leaking and than would not work.   Alocal dealer I went to said there are no parts for the pump.  PC is much more reasonable than manufacturer.  Didn't cost much to install and was a simple job.  After i flush good, i put a gallon of windshield washer fluid (-20)  in toilet and run through pump.  So far so good.   Have to be careful there is no water in maserator.

General Discussion / 2012 Phonix model 255 at FL RV dealer

I have a small place in Naples FL and usually look at local dealers to see whats available.  One dealer I have done business with is in Sarasota FL.  Its called Campbell RV.  These are decent people. 

They currently have a 2012 model 255 with only 7,776 miles.    Looks like new.  Asking $84,900.  There are good pictures.   Go to campbellrv.com.

Listing is hard to find on site.  Go to used inventory  on page 2.  Its there.  Thought some of you would be interested to see one unit on market.  Dont often see a Phonix.

Polls / Re: Any pets travel with you?

If it was a contest I think I would have a good chance of winning.  I am a dog trainer and where I go my dogs go with me.  They are all obedience trained so it makes it easier.   I currently have a standard and minnie poodle and a sheltland sheepdog.  Three dogs now but have traveled with up to five.  Yes I make sure I clean up afer my dogs!   They are good travlers though I had one standard that got car sick.  She responded well to a stomach relaxers and eventually adjusted.  After a long drive they sure enjoy their walks.

This is a little latefor the posting  but I just replaced my Michilen tires on my 2100 07.  Had about 20000 miles on tires and they were becomming severly cracked.  This is a safty issue.  i called Michilen and they said to bring it to Sears an autharized dealer.  Sears inspected the tires and agreed they were not safe.  They called Michilen and i got a substantial prorated reimbursement.  Sears said that Michilen was one of the few companies that did this.  I put 6 new Michilens on the RV and left very happy.   MIchilen a fine company that cares about its customers.  If you go this route make sure you emphasize the safty issue.  John Pierce

General Discussion / Re: Gray water by-pass?

This is a one of those dumb questions.   I have a 07 with sani -com.  Have had for 2 years and thought i knew how to work system.  Things dont seem to be working right.  My local rv shope is not all that familliar with system .
I checked underneath and saw the gray valve open when switch is activated.  When I activate the black the valve handle does not move in ot out.  I can manually close and open.  The light on black switch lights but no activity on valve.

I checked fuses and flushed the tank.  I guess I need the valve replaced.  Not sure where to get a vlalve like thiss.  I see there is a latter and early system.   Cant find any pictures of the valve.  Thetford seems to make system. 

Can one of you fine guys or girls poit me in right direction.  Thanks   John

My 07 is in great shape but would love to do a little touch up with the green used as two tone.  How can iget a 1/2 pint of paint or so to cover some spots.   Thanks
