General Discussion / Re: A/C Wiring Question
« on: February 10, 2023, 05:35:51 pm »
A pure GUESS

IF you are parked at a 30amp site, only the rear thermostat would do anything.  The front "communicationp" cable could be to allow you to use the front a/c (when plugged into a 50a site) to control the furnace by itself with the rear thermostat shut off.  I do know with the standard wiring with the Dometic Penguin, the A/C unit actually is connected to the furnace and turns the furnace on/off based on the rear thermostat.  That's the way my 2015 model 2551 is wired.

I have no idea of the Houghton can control the furnace.  Again, Dave Ponser should have the answers you need.

The best, and correct answer would be to call Phoenix and to speak with Dave Ponser.

On my unit, the front thermostat runs the furnace.  So 30a or 50a, it all runs the same.  Newer 2021 model with the digital thermostats.

General Discussion / A/C Wiring Question

I posted this on the Facebook group, but thought I'd also post here.....

I have a question for any of you who have upgraded your A/C units.

I have a 2021 year model 2552 with the 50A, 2 A/C upgrade.

I'm getting ready to swap my units out tomorrow to Houghton units.  I already started removing the interior stuff so I can get the wiring organized and deal with the furnace.  I ran into something that I'm a bit confused about.
The 120v wires are obvious.  The low voltage wiring is the issue.  The rear unit is easy.  There is a 120v Romeo wire, a 12v+ and a 12v-, and then a communication wire that is wired to the rear thermostat above the passenger side bed.  Easy enough.

The front unit has the 120v romex wire, a 12v+ and 12v- into the unit, and what looks like the 2 thermostat wires to control the furnace.  Additionally, there are two communication wires.  One of them goes to the front CCC2 thermostat.
Where does the other one go to?  My first thought was that the communication wire would go back to the second A/C unit because the CCC2 thermostat in the front could theoretically run both units set up as a multi-zone system.  However, the factory didn't seem to wire it that way.  If they had, there would be no need for the rear thermostat and also, that second communication cable would have to exit into the rear A/C.....which it doesn't.  It just goes into the ceiling and disappears.
Any ideas what that second comm cable could be used for?  Thanks.

General Discussion / Re: Forward A/C Wiring Run

They are available now.  Unfoturnately, there is no way they will fit on our 2552.  Both front openings will interfere with the solar panels.  The Truma is super wide much like the RecPro (Houghton) 3400.  If I were to move the solar panels forward a few inches, I could fit the Truma or RecPro in the normal opening to replace the Dometic, but the length I believe would interfere with the second A/C and a Truma or RecPro would interfere with the rear fan opening.  I think the Coleman Mach NDQ in the standard locations will be my best bet.

General Discussion / Forward A/C Wiring Run

Hello,

I've been considering upgrading the A/C units to the new Truma Aveta Eco on my 2021 2552.  Unfortunately, two of them won't fit in the current location (middle two openings) because they are too long.  I'm considering swapping the front fan and the A/C so the A/C is in the forward opening and the fan is next to the kitchen.  I think this makes more sense anyway.  As the factory does it, they are too close together.  Does anyone have an idea of how the romex is routed up to the forward A/C?  I assume I'll have to remove ceiling panels to rework the wiring.

General Discussion / Mini-blinds and window leak above kitchen
« on: October 14, 2022, 12:43:00 pm »
Hello,

I have two semi-related issues on my 2021 2552.  The first is the mini-blinds won't stay up in the kitchen.  Does anyone know how to adjust the tension?  Do they need to be removed?

The window above the kitchen leaks badly.  I'm guessing it needs to come out to be resealed.  Do I need a special seal for the specific window or does it just use generic foam weatherstripping?

Thanks.

Our 2007 PC-2350 has a 26" TV in the living area that is 720P.  We enjoy watching full length movies on it.  So you can understand why I am fine with our low resolution back-up camera that supports our original 5" monitor that is mounted in the center rear view mirror position.  I do use the backup camera as my rear view mirror when driving, so it is always on when driving.

It is great to read the creativity of PC owners, including your determination to make this feature it's best possible.  I hope you find the perfect high resolution backup camera.

If only I could get the sound working again on our 15 year old Zone Defense backup camera system.  I miss being able to hear my wife's instructions while backing up.  It seems like the system is working, but the tiny hole for the microphone is plugged up.  The problem is....where is the microphone?  Over the years, I have asked many people including Phoenix, but I get no clear answer.  I have searched high and low but cannot find the mic.

I really need to have my wife sit up front in the driver seat while I tap around in back.  I am such a procrastinator with certain things.

BTW:  I think our backup camera could use a good cleaning too.

Our 15 year old backup camera has what looks like a lot of LED bulbs inside it assumed to be backup lighting, but I never noticed them ever working.  Am I alone on that one?

Resolution is directly related to distance from your eyes.  At standard definition, the recommended viewing distance is 6x the diagonal screen size.  High definition it is 3x and 4K is 1.5x.  Your 720p TV would look terrible if you were watching it from 12 inches away.

I too keep the camera screen on all the time.  I think of it like a review mirror.  Based on my seating position, I'm approximately 24 inches away from the upper screen.  It is a 7 inch screen so I should be back at 42 inches for it to look decent.  If it was an HD screen, the distance would be about right.  Any higher resolution than that and your eye would not see the difference.  The center screen is closer to 32 inches from my head.  It is a 10" screen and closer to HD, so the 3x distance is pretty close.

If PC is going to include a higher resolution display in the center of the dash, then I just don't see why they wouldn't add a higher resolution camera.  The cost difference is negligible.

UND_Sioux you have a very new coach for wanting an upgrade already. To access the plug remove the 6 screws securing the camera to the bracket. Then pop out the grommet from the rear cap and gently pull on the wire/cable.  You should end up coming to the plug.  The plug has a rubber sheath over it.  Simply roll the rubber sheath back and you will find a threaded locking ring that secures the female and male plugs together. Unscrew the locking ring and separate the plugs. Your replacement camera should have a 4 pin plug if you plan on using the same wire/cable. I am not sure if you already have a new camera in mind but I do like the Convoy Technologies  1400    https://www.convoytechnologies.com/_files/ugd/5ba9fe_31a009142df6443f9e4fdfaeabba8e98.pdf.  If you have an idea for a good replacement please share as I haven't decided if I am going to up grade yet or not, and maybe your choice is better than mine.

Very Respectfully
Lance

Well that's just the thing.  One of my criticisms with PC, is that certain things are not upgraded when they should be.  Case in point.  They take the time to install a $1000 super fancy touch screen Garmin RV radio with all kinds of technology built in, but then the same old low resolution camera is left on the coach.  In fact, the camera that you linked to is not good enough for what I want.  The display on the Garmin is 1280x800 lines of resolution.  That's not quite high definition, but it is OK.  As a comparison, the "rearview mirror" display is only 800x480.  I'd like a high resolution camera.  The backup camera on my previous Jeep Wrangler and the one on my Ram 1500 looks like HDTV in comparison.  Thanks for the instructions.  I'll tackle this when I find a camera that I like.

How to you access the plug to remove the camera?  I'd like to upgrade mine to a higher resolution unit.  Thanks.

I called them before I bought the PC.  They said that if I wanted one, it would be years.  They could not get chassis from Ford.

General Discussion / Access Under Power Twin
« on: July 05, 2022, 11:36:20 am »
Can anyone tell me how to access everything under the power twin bed on the passenger side of a 2552?  There are screws along the wall the upper board, but I can see how to remove the part of the bed platform that slides in and out on the tracks.  I'm planning some electrical upgrades and I'll need access to replace a few things.  Thanks.

General Discussion / Countertop Match
« on: June 02, 2022, 01:10:46 pm »
Hello,

Anyone happen to know the countertop manufacturer and the name of the color that Phoenix Cruiser calls "Ash"?  I'm considering making some Lagun table tops that match.  Thanks.
