General Discussion / Re: Paint codes
« on: April 26, 2025, 09:59:26 am »
Bruce,

I do not have the same color as you but I went back to when I was asking the same question on our color.  Donc13 said that he has a 2015 and back then they used the Sikkens paint code and his code was 355G2 which is Nightshade.  Back in 2015 Phoenix used S&S for their custom paint jobs.  I believe the place is called S&S Body Shop in Elkhart, IN. Phone # 574-294-5200. You might thru them

We had the Diamond Shield removed by Florida Applied Films in Lakeland, FL.   Shayne is the owner and they did a great job. We dropped it off at 9am and it was ready by 3pm.  The only pieces that we did not have removed were the small piece under the entrance door and the small piece by the ladder in the rear.  Since our PC is 10 years old and it isn’t showing any signs of mold by now he thought that we would be smarter to leave it in those two areas but if we wanted it off he would do it.  He waxed and buffed the coach in all the areas where he removed the film and it looks great.  We did not have the Diamond Shield replaced as we did not want to have to deal with it again. Anyone can call him and get an estimate over the phone on removing it and even putting it back on.  Shayne is an honest man and his quote on the phone is what he charged.

I see you are in Orlando.  I live in Inverness and have been looking for someone to remove our Diamond Shield as this is not something that we want to tackle ourselves.  I have spoken to Florida Applied Films and they will do it for what I believe is a reasonable price.  We will be making an appointment soon to have it done and he said that they can do it in a half day but sometimes it can take a full day.  He also said it was okay if we wanted to leave it overnight.  They have very good reviews and the owner was great in speaking to him on the phone.  Their website says that they are located in Dover, Fl.  but he told me that they are currently located in North Lakeland. In case you want to call the number is 863-698-9696. Hope this helps.  I’ll report back once we have it done.

The directions for the levelers would depend on what model you have.  We have the HWH 325 series as our coach is a 2015 model 2552. We do need to have the ignition in the OFF position and the parking brake engaged in order to use the jacks. Ours is not an “auto level” model so we have to level by looking at the yellow leveling lights on the panel. We have been told to always level from side to side before we level front to rear.

You should always level your coach BEFORE you extend your slide.  If your coach is not level, you can really mess up your slide. Putting the slide out is simple as pushing the button and waiting until the slide is completely out.  Remember to bring your slide in BEFORE you bring your jacks back up when you are preparing to leave.

As far as your awning goes I’m not sure about the parking brake but the awning won’t go out, I believe, when the key is in the ignition or if the coach is running as a safety feature.  I know that I have put the awning out without having the parking brake engaged. You can open your awning even if you don’t extend your slide.  I guess it’s pretty good to have a certain set of steps to take in order to set things up.  That way you get into the habit of doing things the same way every time and hopefully avoid missing something.

I’m sure others will offer their input to help you out.  There is so much knowledge out here on the forum.

Enjoy!
Sharon

I just realized that you may be talking about using your key fob to get into the cab doors.  I have an older Phoenix so we just have a regular old fashioned key.  I would also think that if that is the case, you will need to put a new battery in your key fob ( keyless entry remote).  They don’t last long at all and probably should be replaced every year.

The batteries in your door lock are not connected to the coach in any way.  You need to open the battery compartment on the inside portion of the door lock and change the batteries. It is suggested that you use alkaline batteries, well at least the Bauer lock we have does.

Have you checked out the Phoenix USA site under owner resources?  There is a manual for the Thetford Twiston Sanicon that gives you a parts list and gives you diagrams.

Hi Tarnold,

I agree with Ron that your price is fair.  We bought our 2015 2552 a couple of years ago from the second owner with 23,000 miles on it and paid pretty much close to what you are asking.  Ours is a 30 amp with one ac, no toad came with it, never mind about the price to set up towing a vehicle.  I think the problem is that not too many people are familiar with Phoenix as there aren’t a lot of them out there.  When we decided to look for a smaller coach we first decided on a Coach House and went to their factory.  It wasn’t a big deal for us since we live in Florida so we had seen a few around in our travels.  We were sick and tired of all of the garbage that was out there and wanted to go with a quality rv.  Needless to say we were quite disappointed once we were at the factory.  We got to see how they were being built which I am sure is much better than 95% of what is out there, but my husband was not that impressed.  In wrapping up our tour and looking to place an order at a $211,000.00 price, we were told that we needed to put down a sizable deposit and had to wait two years before we would receive delivery!  My husband said “ we could be dead in two years!!!”.  This is when we started looking for alternatives.  I had noticed that someone had a Phoenix Cruiser parked in their back yard fairly close to our house.  I had never seen one before and had never heard of Phoenix.  So I decided to start doing some research on Phoenix and really liked what I saw.  I started looking at RV Trader, RVT and other places to see the models and get some feel for the asking prices and the values.  We wanted to find one for sale with the twin beds as we had friends that have a twin bed Winnebago and told us it was great for traveling if you needed to stop at a rest area or other place other than a rv park.  We were looking for one for sale in Florida so we could actually see one in person but we couldn’t find much in the 2552 model as it is a popular model.  In reality, there were one or two Phoenix Cruisers for sale.  Like Ron said, the person that was selling it did not have a lot of pictures posted so it was important to us not to travel too far to be disappointed once we got there.  I could have stopped at the person’s house that has the Phoenix near us but I do not have that type of personality to feel comfortable doing that.  With all of that being said, your price is fair for your coach but there aren’t a lot of people out there that understand the quality of the coach and you will have a limited audience.  When someone has had several RVs they will be much more knowledgeable and are prepared to pay more for a quality product.  I would try Ron’s idea and post a lot of pictures.  Cameras in cell phones today are pretty good so you should be able to get some good shots although I can attest that my photography is not that great so I don’t know how well that would work for me.  Good luck and hang in there.  You will make someone a happy camper when they buy your coach!11

One more thing that I forgot to add, I did not need to give them a deposit in order to get the work done.  I found that to be very positive in today’s environment.  I picked out the color and material that I wanted her to use ahead of time so she had it when I brought in our PC.  She has great samples for you to look at but she said she will use anything you want her to.  On the down side, I had to wait three months from the time we scheduled it to get it done.  They are busy but will work with you on a time frame if they can.

I see you live in Florida.  I just had my driver’s, passenger seat and our power couch recovered at TnT RV Services.  They are located at 2211 E Norvell Bryant Hwy. in Hernando, FL. Phone # 352-613-9867.  It is a husband and wife team and they are extremely honest and their prices are very fair.  Tina and Tony are their names and they live at their site location and their lot is completely fenced in so you don’t need to worry about security for your rv.  Tina will recover in any material that you want her too.  She does an excellent job. Tony also does work on rvs.  You can look at their website and see all of the positive reviews.  Not sure how far you are from Hernando but I thought that I would let you know that there is someone out there that is honest and does good work.

Thank you everyone for your input and experiences.  I will look at each and everyone one that you have shared and make a decision that we will feel confident with. This is not something that we are going to install ourselves but we will have a professional do it.  It is so valuable to have input from others that you can trust.  I thank all of you and please enjoy your Holidays!!!!

General Discussion / Setting up toad for flat towing
« on: November 25, 2023, 10:58:16 am »
We have a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sahara that we want to tow behind our 2015 2552.  I have been researching tow bars, braking systems, etc. and looking at the reviews on all of them.  I find it a little overwhelming because everyone has their own opinion and what bothers some doesn’t bother others so I am here to get information on what other PC owners are using if they are towing a Jeep Wrangler.

I’m leaning towards a Blue Ox Alpha II tow bar because they say that it is a non-binding system which is something that I definitely want, to make the process of hooking and unhooking easier.  I also see that Roadmaster tow bars are all supposed to be non-binding so I am open to Roadmaster also.   As far as baseplates go, I haven’t even started that process yet.  I originally thought about going with the Patriot braking system but are now strongly considering going with InvisiBrake.  I have read that you have to make sure that the Patriot system is always set up correctly in your vehicle or the braking system won’t work.  I have read that some people aren’t using them anymore because it is a hassle to get it set up and calibrated (I think this is correct wording).  I don’t know about anyone else but sometimes we feel a little punky after driving for a while so I would hate to screw up setting up the braking system.  Also sometimes we feel a little rushed when trying to get ready to leave a campsite.  I have read that the InvisiBrake is pretty seamless and no set up is required each time you hook up.  So I feel that the direct braking system is best for us.  We do not plan on changing our tow vehicle and can only flat tow our Jeep.

I would love to hear from those of you that are flat towing a Jeep, what you are using for tow bars, base plates and braking.  Also I have a question about whether you leave the key in the ignition of the Jeep or not.  We have an automatic transmission . Some say the steering wheel doesn’t lock and you don’t need to but others say that you need to.  I have looked in the owners manual and it doesn’t state anything about the key.  It just says that after you have shifted the transfer case into neutral, turn off the engine, then shift the transmission into Park.  At that point you should be able to remove the key????  It is a little confusing but I would like to hear what you experienced PC owners have to say.

 :help

Thanks Sharon

General Discussion / Re: Peeling Seats
« on: November 11, 2023, 01:57:29 pm »
I am the third owner of our PC so I am not sure if previous owners used any chemicals on the seating.  I only used a mild soap and a little water to clean them since we have owned it. My seats are no where near as bad as the seats pictured above but I have heard that once the peeling starts it just gets worse.  I have read about the upholstery manufacturing done on the peeling seats and I can see very plainly what was said when I look at our seats.  They took some material and then sprayed a coat of the pleather on it.  It is a very light coat of spray that they use.  When you look at the seats where they are peeling you can see how thin the coat was.  As for human contact, not sure how true that is.  Our PC only has 24,000 miles on it and was never lived in full time so it had limited human contact.  I think Paul’s seating just got a deal on the material they used and PC owners are suffering the consequences of that.  I know that a couple of rv manufacturers have recovered the seats for free for their customers that had a peeling seat problem.  One would assume that Phoenix no longer does business with Paul’s Seating because they wouldn’t stand behind the seats that they provided Phoenix with which I wouldn’t blame them.  If Phoenix got a good deal on the seats too, oh well, live and learn.  Auto manufacturers don’t do any recalls until someone gets seriously injured or dies and are basically forced to and I don’t think anyone will get injured or die from peeling seats.

I guess the safest route to go is with cloth seating but I like to be able to wipe the seats down if something is spilled on them.  Some are saying that Ultraleather is the way to go but after doing some research Ultraleather only has a five year warranty and is quite expensive.  My coach is a 2015 and the seats have been good for eight years before peeling. So anyone that encounters this problem will need to decide which material is best for them.

I haven’t seen any peeling in the padded trim yet and I have used the Chemical Guys Hydroleather ceramic protective coating on all of it.  It seems to have helped the other peeling on the seats but hasn’t stopped it completely.  I have already made arraignments to have the seats recovered so that is taken care of.  Just hoping that the hydroleather will help prolong any peeling that may occur elsewhere.  You can buy the Chemical Guys Hydroleather on Amazon or at Walmart.  The price is the same $29.00.

Well if finally happened.  The two front seats and power couch are peeling  :'(.   Have already made an appointment to have them recovered at a nearby upholsterer but I am nervous now about seeing other posts where the vinyl/pleather near the cabinets etc. are peeling.  Mine still looks great but so didn’t my seats and couch a few months ago.  I have taken a chance and used Chemical Guys Hydro Leather on the vinyl/pleather everywhere in the coach.  I have used Chemical Guys products before and they work really good so I am hoping for the best.  Has anybody used anything else with any success?
