General Discussion / Re: How to make the screen door more visible
« on: January 01, 2025, 04:27:21 pm »
We installed a dog crate divider in front of our screen when we have the door open so the dogs don't run into the screen.  It works great for our two standard poodles.  We installed hooks on both sides of the door open so the divider is quick to set into place whether you are inside of the RV or doing it from the outside before you close the screen.  We could provide you with a picture of it if you think that would work for you.

General Discussion / Re: FREE - Leather Convertible Sofa Bed (Gray)

We replaced them with two RecPro recliners.  We didn't need the sleeping space and we enjoy the recliners because it is like having two powered Lazy Boy recliners.  If you ever decide to take a quick road trip, the sofa bed is still available.

General Discussion / FREE - Leather Convertible Sofa Bed (Gray)
« on: October 20, 2024, 02:58:29 pm »
We have a 2018 3100 PC with gray upholstery. We replaced our leather convertible sofa bed in 2022. The sofa measures 56" wide (our spot in the PC measures 60" wide). It's in excellent condition, with no scuffs, tears or stains. The sofa has been stored inside since we removed it. We really don't need it anymore and would like to give it away to someone who could put it to good use.

We live in Gaylord, Michigan, which is in the northern lower peninsula, just off I75.  If interested, we request pick-up from from our home.

These pictures show its condition, right before our removal from our PC.

Great, thanks to all who responded! We will check out each of your suggestions and make a decision, so we can get moving on ordering new twin mattresses.  2o2

**NEED ADVICE**
We own a 2018 3100 PC.
We would like to order two new twin mattresses for our unit and are seeking suggestions from those of you who have replaced the mattresses on your twin beds. We prefer our beds to be firm and would like to order mattresses that are of good quality. We understand these will have to be custom made, but are willing to pay the price to get something that we'll be happy with for years to come.
Thank you.

I just saw your response Kevin.  I am glad you were able to get the information you needed from Keith.  I hope you are as happy with the Vroom system as we are with ours.  Best of luck.

Hank,
Thank you for the information that Phoenix supplied you regarding switching to AGM's from flooded batteries.

Hank,
I wish I could speak for Trojan AGM's, but I have only had experience with their flooded batteries as I have used them for years in golf carts and our aerial lift.  I know my question to you is slightly off topic here, but will you have to change any settings on your charger in your PC to switch to AGM's from flooded batteries.  We are still running the original batteries that came in our PC, but we know the day will come when we have to replace them and I have wondered if I would have to change any settings on the charger if we go with AGM's.
The NAPA batteries you are considering sound to be quite bullet proof, but I agree their website is confusing in regards to the warranty.  One place it says free replacement for 3 years and in another it says 12 months.  Please update this thread with your final decision.

General Discussion / Re: Vroom Slide System
« on: August 23, 2024, 05:27:05 am »
They did NOT have to remove the slideout to install the Vroom system, but they definitely have the capability to do so.  They were considering replacing our rollers under the slideout with larger rollers to spread out the weight of the slideout over more area, but to do so would require its removal and we decided to go with the rollers that came with the PC.  I would call them and speak with Brandon about it.  He is the manager of the truck repair area which is where they work on all RVs.  While I was there I saw them working on several RVs for work other than installing the Vroom system.

General Discussion / Re: Vroom Install Question

Kevin,
I responded to your question on the other Vroom thread that we originally created.  I even contacted Schwintek about the sticker and they said it may not be visible after it is installed in an RV.
Gary
PS: Not sure how far you are from the place that is going to install your Vroom system, but if it is not too far, I would consider taking your PC to them and have them take the necessary measurements since you are having all three systems replaced on your PC.  That way there will be no questions about the measurements.

When we had our system installed last year, I was asked about the sticker as well, but I was also unable to find the sticker.  Instead, Fabel (the installer) had me provide them with measurements that they used for ordering the Vroom system from Tucson.  Good luck with your install, hopefully you will be as happy as we are with the Vroom system.

General Discussion / Re: Awning tie downs
« on: April 21, 2024, 10:18:54 am »
We normally use 1" ratchet straps attached to screw-in anchors on our awning on our 3100.  If screw-in anchors aren't allowed at a campground or not practical to use, we will sometimes attach the straps to a picnic table or grill post.  We don't leave the awning out if it is overly windy or if a storm is approaching, but we don't want to have to worry about a gust of wind damaging the awning.

As for Jack pads, we don't use the clip-on type, but we do use pads under the jacks after they have swung down vertical.  We also try to put blocks under the tires on the low side or end of the PC so the jacks aren't lifting as much weight as they would if the blocks weren't used.

Tips and Tricks / Re: PC 2400 Extra Sleeping Capacity
« on: December 18, 2023, 06:26:46 am »
Have you considered a small pop-up camper that you could tow with your PC?  It would only need to be for sleeping for your guests so it wouldn't need to be too large or heavy.

Sharon, you might also want to watch videos available on etrailer.com.   They might help with your research.

General Discussion / Re: Setting up toad for flat towing
« on: November 26, 2023, 04:46:46 pm »
We have a 2018, 3100 PC and tow either our 2019 or 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.  I set both units up for towing so we can tow either Jeep.  We use a Blue Ox tow bar and use Roadmaster base plates.  The reason we use that combination is that our original toad was a Honda CR-V which we set up with a Blue Ox base plate.  When we looked into the base plates for the Wranglers we felt that the Roadmaster offered a cleaner look when the Jeeps were not being towed.  This coming spring we will be replacing our tow bar as it is reaching its 10 year life span.  Although it is still working fine, we don't care to take chances and are following the manufacturer's guidelines for the tow bar life span.  We will again be replacing it with another Blue Ox tow bar as everything is set up for that brand.
As for the braking system, we installed the Demco Stay'n Play Duo system on each Jeep.  Once installed, all you do is connect the light cord to the Jeep and turn on a toggle switch mounted in the Jeep and the system is ready to go.  For the tail, turn, and brake lights, we installed the system that uses the existing Jeep's tail and brake lights.  I believe this system is from Roadmaster, but I am not 100% certain.
As for your ignition key; I can totally understand your frustration with the lack of direction from Jeep.  Both our Jeeps have push-button starting so there wasn't a question about removing the key, but there is no mention about whether there is a steering wheel lock or not.  We ended up calling the Jeep dealer to find out that Jeeps don't have steering wheel locks.  In our Honda, we had to leave the key in the ignition and have it turned to the first detent to unlock the steering wheel.
Just a suggestion for you...prepare a check sheet, using the vehicle owner's manual, listing the steps to take to set up for towing and steps to be taken when disconnecting from your RV.  A co-worker of ours did not believe in doing that and it cost them a set of tires on their toad because they did not release the parking brake before departing on a trip.  The husband couldn't understand why their diesel pusher was acting so sluggish, but did not stop to see what was wrong.  It wasn't until a passing driver got their attention did they stop to find two ruined tires.
