General Discussion / Re: Macerator pump will not turn on
« on: April 14, 2025, 07:55:13 pm »
The motor can develop a "dead" spot,  when,  if the motor stops on that spot,  will not start again, unless you turn the motor from the outside with a straight slot screwdriver.  You can see the slot on the end of your macerator.
Turn it with the macerator off, and then turn it on.
If this doesn't work, it could be a dead macerator,  or maybe a fuse.
Our's actually shorted out,  and got hot to the touch.   So try feeling it.  If so, it's toast.

General Discussion / Re: Towel Rack ideas for 2350
« on: April 14, 2025, 07:42:22 pm »
After the mirror on the back of the door fell off and smashed,  we decided to screw on 2 towel bars to the back of the door instead.  One high, and one about door knob height.
Works very well,  creates way more space for drying towels, which  you found out is scarce in the bathroom.

Ron,  did you specify that coffee maker on your order sheet, way back when,  or was it considered standard equipment at the time ?

That cutting board has a big ole knot in it !    Something you don't usually see in uses like that.  Probably good and hard, though.

Volkeman,    thanks for the heads up !     On our 2006 PC i've been wondering what to do if it fails, and now I know,    REPAIR !

Mike,  I heartily agree with Ron D's  opinion on not leaving the coach plugged in during storage situations.    I've read so many posts in forums about doing this and having various problems arise.
I also disconnect the battery cables and periodically charge them as needed,  depending what type you have.    I discovered this year, that even with the battery switch by the side door off, the macerator
and  generator can be started and run.

General Discussion / Re: Sony backup camera system
« on: August 02, 2024, 08:08:44 am »
For 12 volt for the camera, I spliced into the marker light wire right by the camera.  So, Yes, the lights have to be on now when I use the camera.
For the monitor,  I used the existing 12 volt wire to the old one.   Had enough wire to run it behind the headliner terminus where it meets the windshield.
That wire is energized whenever the ignition is on.

I did not encounter your specific issues with my camera when it died a few years ago.   I did call the factory with ideas for repair.  They told me technology had moved on and there
were no replacements.  They also said most people have gone with the wireless units and have been satisfied.    I decided to go with a Tadi Brothers wireless camera that has a
monitor attatched to the rear view mirror in the cab. The camera goes right where the old one had been.   Way better,  sharp, image.    Wish I had done it sooner.

General Discussion / Re: Microwave Face trim cracking-2009 2359
« on: July 27, 2024, 10:18:43 am »
If you are talking about the metal "trim kit" that surrounds the microwave front, and screws into the surrounding wood cabinet,  I had a similar issue on our 2006.  All 4 corners  also were failing and getting worse to the
point I feared breakage during travel.      After locating the serial number for a  replacement,  I found nothing online.    I considered having it welded, but the experts told me the metal was too thin.

I ended up sanding the  paint off all 4 corners, front and back,  and then  attatching  metal corner braces to all 4 corners, front and back, with a generous amount of  JB-WELD epoxy.
I smoothed it out on the edges of the braces as best I could, doing one side at a time.  Letting everything cure for a couple days,  I sanded the edges smooth and re-painted the whole
trim kit with a Rustoleum spray color that matched perfectly.    VERY happy with the results.  You have to look closely to see anything was done to it.  We're on our 3rd summer of  using it
and so far, no more cracks.

i used a "hammered finish"  paint which I think helps hide the repair,  and matches better the original finish.

I also discovered, in studying the  mounting of the microwave, that the front 2 feet were above the base below them.  So I shimmed all 4 feet to make them as level and evenly bearing weight as I could.
I also discovered in removing the microwave, that one of the metal bars holding the trim kit to the back of the microwave was  un-attatched,  the screw was missing.   Found a replacement screw to
remedy that.    Glad now I got into it and made it safer/sturdier.

In liew of all that work, you could also see if an RV  salvage yard has one.    Ron Dittmer gave me that tip, but I never followed up on it.   May be very easy.

General Discussion / Re: Replace Combo Oven - DONE!!
« on: July 26, 2024, 05:19:13 pm »
Our microwave has also stopped running after 10 minutes on high.  Not on convection.     Assumed it was overheating.    We usually don't run it that long.   Still the original Sharp from
2006.    Otherwise works fine.    Thanks for all the tips on converting if needed.

Ron750;   when I bought our 2700  8 years ago, the house battery wasn't charging from the  engine alternator.  Long, painful story short,  we discovered the cable from the alternator to the house battery
was disconnected at the alternator, and wrapped in tape.  Not sure why.    I unwrapped the tape, re-connected it to the alternator and not surprisingly,  all has been fine since.
Upshot ?    I check my connections every so often, especially at the battery, to make sure things are tight.   Good luck with your journey,  keep up the good attitude !

Good info there Ron.    I sent for and received the macerator you suggested, and will install next spring.    Our's  has a gray tank valve issue and will first check the gasket for deformities
before replacing the whole valve.

Just curious, Ron,  which macerator did you go with ?     I'm beginning to see similar behavour with mine.

Thanks for sharing the info, Ron.     I wonder if  STA-BIL  would have  kept the generator carb from gumming up ?    We store ours at an indoor storage place for the 6 winter months with

STA-BIL in the the system.   Have never started it during that storage time and never have had a problem.  Otherwise it's started at least monthly during the summer.

Maybe you should check the trickle charger you're using.   Is it functioning properly ?    I had a bad one a couple years ago,  brand new even.  Drove me crazy til I figured it out.   Could be shorting out your system.
