General Discussion / Re: e-bike update

We have had Rad Rovers for 3 years now and have had a great time traveling with them.  In may cases, the tow-vehicle stays home when we take the bikes.

General Discussion / Side wall re-assembly
« on: January 18, 2021, 07:40:50 am »
Hello PC family and happy new year!

I removed the side wall where the van joins the PC structure because I had suspicion that a mouse or two had visited the PC over last winter.  It/they did.  I removed this side trim, corrected the issue, and am reassembling.  To my surprise, these heavy gauge, long staples were driven into the aluminum tubing in the wall.  Obviously I'm not going to be successful driving them all back in so I wanted to see if anyone else has successfully attacked this reassembly.  I'm thinking that I will need to tear apart the trim/vinyl assembly at the top and screw the 2x2 into the aluminum, and staple everything back together.  Anyway, I thought I'd collect any experiences here and later add my conclusion for any other owners who might find them in a similar situation down the road.

General Discussion / Re: Hankook tires

Interesting comment on tread separation.  My tires are the replacement Michelin tires from the 2014 recall.  Three weeks ago the tread pealed off the outside right rear tire.  Yesterday, the outside left rear tire tread pealed off.  Just wondering if the replacement Michelin tires have the same defect as the recalled ones.

Wow, that's terrible.  How many miles did you have on the replaced Michelins?  LTX M/S 2's?

General Discussion / Re: Cabinet squeak
« on: August 20, 2018, 11:35:38 am »
Hi.  I want to get back to the group about what I found with my squeak.  After removing the headliner, I found a screw which appears to not have been originally tightened.  I believe this is responsible for the sound of metal popping up and down a a thread of a screw (what I originally thought was a stripped screw).  700 miles later, all has been quiet - yet I do need to give Murphy and his law a bit of room here. ;)  The screw which was the issue is indicated by the red arrow.  The green arrows are the screws that I ran down through the cabinet, similar to Ron's initial idea.

I hope this helps someone.

Thanks BlueBlaze.

I have a 2008 29100 on the E450 and added the Firestone kit last year, with the Airlift remote control and compressor.  It makes a HUGE difference on my rig, lift height and ride.  I do enjoying the pressure adjustment on the fly as well.  I don't know if I could go without it now. ;)

A few more.  Some of these are the Sprinter and others the Ford.  They're not identical, but very close.

Hi Ron!

Yes, precisely, Ron.  They held tight for about 9 months.  Now, with a twist of the fan you can hear them pop between the threads of the screw (or one screw).  I chose against machine screws and went with sheet metal screws.  Unfortunately, it made no difference in the squeak.  We swung by PC last summer when I was DETERMINED to solve this issue, and I took about a half dozen pictures related to the front cabinets as notes for the project. Let me see if I am able to successfully downsize the images to here...

Feel free to move these accordingly Ron...

Romex should not squeak.  If it is I would be concerned.  If it is rubbing it will eventually wear through.  If it is stretching or flexing it will eventually fail.  But I doubt that the Romex is the cause of the issue.

Hi have to agree jatrax... what threw me was when I removed the back of the cabinet panels and felt around with my hand... moved the romex and  :beg All I can say is that it did seem to help, but I am not done yet (although, I'm thinking about having some wind chimes nearby so when it does raise its squeaky head, the chimes drown out the noise!   roflol

I have been fighting with a squeek above the driver side in my 2008. It is very frustrating! I added the screws like Ron did and they later stripped out. The squeek will come and go, and I enjoy when it's not present.  One day it did not make a sound after driving all day, the following day it squeaked. The only difference was that on the second day it was raining. I thought it may be the humidity that caused something (wood) to expand.  The third day, another rainy day, and no squeek.

Prior to this evaluation, I believed the squeek was coming from the Romex that feeds the outlet above the passenger side. As bad as it sounds, I shoved a foam pool noodle between the cab (that Ron's screws tap into) and the what net bottom. I think that helped, but it still drives me bonkers when it squeeks!

I am going to see if I can use a thermal Camera to find anything. I drove an inspection camera around and that's where I saw the Romex.

General Discussion / Re: Desired 30A Cord Length?

I bought this 30 ft cord by Marino.  I like the ends on it. It hangs better on the side of the PC and the electric box. It may cost a little more but I like it.

I went with this one Tom.  Love it!  Thanks for sharing!

Hi!  When you replaced the camera, does that mean ONLY the camera was replaced, not the display, or did you replace both?

Thanks!

Rob
