Thanks for the reply.  I sure wish I could have seen your PC at the factory.  They did not have one with the extended kitchen available so I ordered that option based solely on Earl's video.

General Discussion / I ordered a new PC but I still have one question
« on: March 13, 2016, 09:54:14 pm »
I went to the factory last week and spent a number of hours over two days poking and prodding.  I enjoyed my time there.  Since I had never been in a PC, I first had to decide between a 2351 and a 2552 and 4 X 4 or not.  Earl, as others have mentioned, gave me a nice tour and then allowed me to wander through units myself and talk to employees.  In the end, I decided against the 4 X 4 but I did order a 2351 with the following major options:

Built on 450 chassis
Elongated kitchen (giving up pantry)
Slide out with dinette
Full body paint (Desert Sand exterior and Toast interior)
Cherry cabinets and floors
Premium package
Leveling jacks
Insulated windows
Back up monitor
150 W solar panel
15,000 BTU A/C
Plus a whole lot of other “given” common options (Euro chair, awning, bedspread, etc.) and other not so common options.

In an earlier thread, I asked a question about the adequacy of the exterior patio light.  I am not sure I will need them, but I replaced the patio light with a larger LED light (on / off / motion positions) and the same light on the back, just under the upper brake light.

One thing I wasn’t real happy with was the plastic toilet which seems pretty short (front to back).  According to Earl, that is the only toilet that will fit in the overall rather tight bathroom.  Does anyone with a rear corner bath have any options or solutions?

Thanks

I did get to the factory last week.  They had a number of new units getting ready to ship out and also going to FMCA so I did not get to see your 2351.

Thank you for the warm welcome and thoughtful suggestions.  There will certainly be a lot to think about and go over at the factory.

My biggest unknown is whether to order the 4 X 4.  In my RV “career”, I’ve only needed 4WD on one occasion but could have used it a couple more times.  With this smaller rig, I plan to do much more boondocking in some great places in Utah.  One of my favorite areas is at 10,000 feet.  The weather is pretty unpredictable and 4WD might come in real handy.

General Discussion / A few questions before I do a factory tour
« on: March 04, 2016, 07:59:21 pm »
I am going to visit the factory for a tour next week and if I like what I see, order a 1st PC for me.  Although I’ve searched the forum, I still have questions that I think you guys, rather than the factory, could best answer.  Thanks in advance or your input.

1.    I am interested in the Quigley 4X4 option.  PC will not have any with the regular seats in place.  So, I need to ask any owners with this option if the transfer case shifter is a huge bother trying to get in and out of the driver’s seat?  Also, if any have the 4X4 and leveling jacks, since the 4 X 4 adds 5” in height, is there enough length in the jacks to allow you to level without adding pads?  Is there a danger of bumping the shifter out of 2WD into 4WD or even Neutral?  I’m not sure how much weight the Quigley adds but on Earl’s video it looks massive.  Is there enough NCC to take all the toys with the Quigley?  (If I order a 2351, I would order it with the E-450 chassis.)

2.   I was wondering about the effectiveness of the Mobileye option.  Is it a good safety option to consider?  Is there enough adjustment in it to allow for the extra stopping distance required or RV’s?

3.   Has anyone ordered side cameras?  Are they effective?  (I had them on my DP and loved them but the DP had a straight sidewall which provided a great view.)

4.   The awning light strip looks like it gives out a lot of light.  But, is it enough or is supplemental patio lighting recommended?

General Discussion / Just introducing myself

I’d like to introduce myself.  My name is Byron Knight.  I’ve been lurking on your forum for about a month and can see how dedicated the owners, former owners and wannabes are to PC.  You all have a terrific knowledge base and willingly share your thoughts and ideas.  Thank you for letting me explore your site.

I’ve been RVing for 20 years but have never owned a B or C class.  My wife and I full-timed in an A class DP for 7 fantastic years.  When we decided it was time to return to a stick house, we sold the DP and bought a 28’ fifth wheel.  Unfortunately, my wife passed away a couple of years ago and the 5th wheel doesn’t cut it for me any longer.  It is time for me to downsize.

I have an appointment next Wednesday with Earl at the factory for a tour and to possibly order either a 2351 or 2552 – at least that is my thought without ever actually seeing a PC at this point.  I have a ton of questions for Earl but I also have a few questions to pose to this group.  I will ask those in a separate message.  Thanks again.
