General Discussion / Re: Alternative Fridge?
« on: August 24, 2025, 09:34:02 am »
Joseph,

My 2015 just went through the ammonia leak on my way home from Canada a week and a half ago.  I have a mobile tech ordering me a new cooling unit and he's expected to get it installed 1st week of Sept.

Yup, $2k expected cost.

I considered a new unit but we still boondocks alot and I wasn't happy with the current draw needed.  I didn't want to run the generator to provide enough power.

But if it goes again, I will see what the latest and greatest thing is then.

I have not pulled a travel trailer but have pulled a Jeep Liberty {3500 lbs} and another time towed an Alfa Romeo on a car trailer  You should be fine but keep the transmission in tow haul mode.   If the travel trailer has surge brakes even better.  If the travel trailer has electric brakes, I would have them hooked up.

General Discussion / Re: Sanicon Turbo 700 Macerator
« on: May 04, 2025, 08:56:37 am »
The macerator runs only off the coach batteries, so make sure the 12v disconnect isn't "off".

If you haven't, check for 12v at the macerator itself

Yes, the macerator is essentially "glued" in place and will require replumbing... not  an easy or pleasant project

I dumped my waste tanks a couple days ago and the macerator worked.  Trying to rinse and flipped the macerator switch it would not start and heard no noise.  It has been a good unit for the past 9 years.

I am just starting to think of options.  I have found Phoenix has used at least thee different models over the years. One of my options is to leave the macerator pump in place and just dump with the supplied stinky/slinky system.  I am curious how many have used this bypass option long term and if there are reasons other than the convenience improvements that the macerator has?

It looks like a pump replacement might be easier though still not easy to replace the complete Sump box and pump assembly.  Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Have you checked the wiring, fuse and power?
It could be as simple as a blown fuse.

Are you talking about the fuse panel mounted on the driver's side kick panel (by the E-Brake)?   I am unaware of any fuse panel on the driver's seat.

If so, your Ford Owner's Manual has a diagram in it.

General Discussion / Re: Paint codes

Bruce,

I do not have the same color as you but I went back to when I was asking the same question on our color.  Donc13 said that he has a 2015 and back then they used the Sikkens paint code and his code was 355G2 which is Nightshade.  Back in 2015 Phoenix used S&S for their custom paint jobs.  I believe the place is called S&S Body Shop in Elkhart, IN. Phone # 574-294-5200. You might thru them

That is correct.

General Discussion / Re: Waste Discharge Hose Replacement
« on: April 15, 2025, 03:38:27 pm »
Just FYI: My deformed gasket did not leak to the outside.  It was deformed on the inside, causing the drag on valve movement.

That one on amazon is not perfectly square.  It has those indents, not sure if it is the best choice, but maybe it will work just fine.

That's the exact one used by PC to build my unit.  I called Carol when I replaced the black valve and also later on when I did the Grey valve  Mind you, my unit (built in Dec 2014 for the Florida RV show) was the first one that used the Sanicon instead of one like yours.  The Sanicon itself still has the "Engineering Test Unit" label on it from Thetford.

Phoenix has been using the Turbo since 2015.    My particular PC was the *test* install unit.   It's a 2015 model built in December of 2014 anll has it's original "engineering test unit" label on the macerator itself.   I have replaced the hose and used the 97521 hose.  They are available lots of places, I got mine from Amazon

I am curious....

Is that broken duct inside a slideout, or adjacent to one?  If so, it could have failed from the movement of sliding in and out.

Ron.... there should be no foil ducting in a slide out, and thus no heater outlet in a slideout due to the fragile nature of the foil ducting.

General Discussion / Re: Inverter Question
« on: April 01, 2025, 08:48:20 am »
Think I might have found the answer.  ( internal transfer switch ).

You are most likely correct, there are 2 transfer switches, the 1st switch is in the wall behind the driver's seat.  It switches between shore power and the Genset and supplies the main 120v power distribution panel  The second transfer switch switches between shore power and inverter output for those TV outlets, exterior outlets and bathroom outlets (inverter does NOT power the microwave).  . I believe that 2nd transfer switch is inside the inverter in my 2015 model but earlier models may have used an external switch mounted near the inverter

https://unitedrvparts.com/products/lippert-solera-universal-slide-topper-replacement-432253-cut-to-fit-fabric-black

Solera Universal Slide Topper Replacement Solera® Universal Slide Topper fabrics by Lippert™ offer a convenient solution for repairing worn or torn fabrics on your Solera, Dometic, or Carefree slide toppers or RV slide-out rooms. This cut-to-fit fabric comes in a 50' roll, making it easy to customize and install, providing a cost-effective way to enhance and protect your RV.
Important Note: Please reference your RV's owner's manual before purchase for additional compatibility information.

That is what an RV repair shop buys, why would any individual buy a 4' wide, 50' long roll to replace an approx 4' x 4' topper fabric?  What are you going to do with the other 46 feet of fabric?

Most RV repair shops carry or can get replacement fabric.

And yes, I am getting it  again.

This is not anything to worry about.  If there were a payment system (as in if PC sold items and accepted payments here) then I would be concerned.  But it's simply an expired security certificate and whoever is physically operating the web server needs to purchase a new certificate & "key".
