Only semi-related, but what is Phoenix charging per hour now for non-warranty work and is the customer allowed in the work area now that they are in their new building?

General Discussion / Re: Domestic Fan control with a mind of its own

Hopefully a reset of some sort can make it behave.  I looked at my literature and didn't see any instructions on that.  I know resets are possible because someone once reset my controller by pressing the + and - temp control at the same time to switch it from showing Centigrade back to Fahrenheit.  Maybe have your serial number and model info ready and find a service center through Dometic's website that will be kind enough to give you advice over the phone of a couple of things to try before you have to haul the whole thing in?

I'm not even sure who the owners are but here is some info I had jotted down back when the company was sold:
Dave Ponsler, 574/350-2680, dponsler@phoenixusarv.com
Jim Byrnes, jim@phoenixusarv.com

General Discussion / Re: Covid Travel Restrictions

OMG thank you for that link!  Getting ready to travel back to TX soon, with memories of campgrounds closing before and behind me last March when I was heading east.  This link will be so very helpful.  Thank you!

Thank you so much for those details, Emcee.  I took a picture of your description for the next time I have an RV repair person around to help me with this.  It all makes a lot of sense, though, as you describe it.  Including the fact that the leak is worse when the RV's rear is lower than the front, and not so bad at all (or non-existent) when the RV is tilted more to the front.  Something that took a loooooong time to notice.  Will keep y'all posted on my findings/results, but it will be a little while before I have the help needed to pursue this solution.  Thanks again!

Thanks, RVrunner.  That makes a lot of sense.

Emcee--Thank you for providing such welcome info for the rest of us!  (Thank you also to Peace be the Journey!). I have had a mystery leak for YEARS in the cab on the driver's side.  It causes the carpet under the brake pedal area to become wet, but even when raining heavily, it's nigh unto impossible to see where the drips are coming from.  No one has been able to find the source and, like you, I ripped out the carpet so that at least it could air out when it rained.  You mentioned a problem with a leaky grommet under the engine cowl.  I am mechanically inept and need a bit more explanation of what/where that would be.  Where do I look?  I am hoping this solves my long-running, frustrating mystery.
Thank you!

General Discussion / Re: Bathroom Heat
« on: June 27, 2020, 03:27:15 pm »
On my 2351, I prop the bathroom door so that it is slightly open to increase air circulation.  In the summer, I put the bathroom fan on low.  This draws the air conditioned air into and through that back corner room and helps quite a bit.  On cold winter nights, I also keep the door slightly open, allowing the relative warmth from the rest of the coach to help out the bathroom.

Tips and Tricks / Re: Shelf stable meals

You mentioned on the other thread that you will be close to a convenience store.  Great!  Eggs eggs eggs!  Just pick up a dozen whenever you pass by.  Very versatile and fulfill lots of nutritional requirements.  Can make a little at a time so no leftovers.  Can combine with all sorts of stuff (bread, pasta, canned goods, fresh produce when available, cheese, yadayadayada...).
Enjoy your time.  Sounds like a wonderful spot.

General Discussion / Another SurgeGuard Question
« on: December 26, 2019, 05:45:50 pm »
Don't want to hijack the previous thread so here's my question:
Anyone switch out a hardwired Surgeguard in exchange for a Progressive Industries EMS instead?  Was it no big deal?
Also, how did it work as far as switching the remote display panel?  Was that easily done or a pain in the neck?  (On my 2351 the EMS is under the bed in the rear corner and the display panel is way up on the wall behind the driver's seat, so am hoping it's easy to switch one display panel for the other using existing wiring.)
My Surgeguard is about to die and I like the Progressive Ind's bypass feature, which Surgeguard does not have.
Thank you!

General Discussion / Re: Always new things to learn
« on: December 17, 2019, 09:03:28 pm »
Hello Cats...  I have found a similar thing with my TV.  Additionally, windy days can seriously hurt OTA antenna reception.  One thing that sometimes helps is to not have the antenna fully cranked up, but instead lowered slightly to an angle...  Although I think we may have different antennas (mine is the Wineguard).  It also helps to rescan once in a while when channels seem to be disappearing.  Good luck... Stay warm... and always keep a good book handy!

General Discussion / Re: How to do deal with dangerous weather?
« on: May 21, 2019, 07:45:25 am »
Agree wholeheartedly on use of a good weather app and, to the extent possible, driving around and away from the bad stuff.
Also, when in a campground with lots of trees, I scope out areas that are not tree-covered so if high winds are forecast, I can temporarily move to get out from under the trees.  It really doesn't take a very big branch to poke a hole in the roof.  And a whole tree... well, that's just ugly.
As for hail, this sounds pretty silly, but it works for me:  four rubber bathtub mats fixed to windshield.  Use a spray bottle to spritz some moisture onto the window, then press down and smooth out so the suction cups on the bottom of the mats grab hold.  This wouldn't hold up in really high winds, but up until that point, it can help prevent some hail damage to your windshield glass.  Unless you are really tall, you need a good step-stool to reach the two mats in the middle.

General Discussion / Re: Automatic Entry Step
« on: May 10, 2019, 07:29:21 am »
On one of my maintenance trips to Phoenix they installed a simple on/off switch near the steering wheel that is connected somehow to the battery connection for the entry step.  With the engine on and the door step in, flick the switch to off and the door step will not deploy (even when opening the house door).  Flick the switch back on while the engine is on and the step will deploy as normal.  This solved that nasty problem of having the step flip off passing motorists or, worse, deploying while trying to park close to a curb.

General Discussion / Re: Refrigerator

Okey, here's the skinny for anyone with a similar question now or in the future.
Factory (Carol) called back and, like MikeH noted, they are now installing Norcold NA7LX (2-way) units on new PC's.
Although listed as a 7 cu.ft. frig, it is really only 6.5 cu.ft. and Phoenix is installing it in the same size opening as the one the N621 fit into, so (yay!) no cabinet modifications are needed.
Important to note:  The slightly larger frig does require you to order a trim adapter kit for the door panels if you want to save $$ and use your old door panels rather than ordering new ones.
Again, thanks for the help and input. :)
