Good thought on the flannel sheets, though I fear they might be too hot for the warmer areas we plan on visiting.  We used to use them in the winter in the US (we're in Mexico now), and they were nice and cozy!
 
I use a mattress cover to protect the mattress and keep it cleaner.  Unless it is very hard, we won't need heavily padded ones.  I've been in soft, large beds with deep toppers and totally get the "swallowing up" effect.  Not a fan.  But a thin cover on a twin mattress won't be an issue.

Thanks Sue!  I might just have to do something like this one day, when I have access to a sewing machine.  Since we are nomadic, I don't have that any more, but my mother does, so when I visit her, I might be able to modify whatever we end up buying.  I guess I could sew them by hand, but a machine would be so much quicker and easier!

What do those of you with a 2551/2 or 3100 do about mattress covers for the twin beds since the mattresses are not a traditional twin size?  Do you just buy twins and use the "garters" on the back to snug them up?  Same with fitted sheets?

I would call the factory and tell them what model year you are interested in and they can supply the info.

Hi Sue,

Is there really that much difference in the sofa length in recent model years?  Just wondering. 

We are in Mexico, so phone calls to the US are a little expensive, and there's no pressing need for the information now, I was just curious.

I tried searching but couldn't turn up this small factoid.  Could someone please measure and tell me the width of the sofa in the 3100?  This may well be the same as the width of the sofa in all models (is it?)

I figured as much.  We used to own a sailboat and had the same limitations.  I certainly wouldn't want anything to sit any lower than the normal-sized tanks.  We're considering a 3100 because of the larger gray tank, actually, even though it's just the two of us (plus one small dog).

Here is a thought.  If you order one, can you have larger tanks installed?  If you buy a used one, can you change them out?

Reviving an old thread to ask if adding larger tanks is possible?  We're hoping to do some boondocking.  Specifically, can larger tanks (gray and/or black) be done on the 2552, does anyone know?  Thanks!

first the 2551   2009  asking 54,900.

Was in very good shape, has 25,k miles, couple of things need to be fixed, has the sani-con system, levelers, inverter, wood floors, cherry wood, dealer started the genie, advised that they had replaced the AC unit. Looks like it has been stored indoors, paint excellent, decals excellent.Has the slide with couch/bed... Did not drive it, just wanted to look at it. Dealer said they were ready to deal?/ of course they all are,,, if really interested, let me know will give a more detail report

Hi David -- I know it's been awhile, but do you happen to remember what the "couple of things needed to be fixed" on this unit were?

Interesting that this 2551 appears not to have sold yet they have raised the asking price since you went to see it months ago!

My grandparents lived in Ft. Myers for decades, so I am familiar with that part of Florida.  We'd love to camp at Long Key State Park one day -- we visited there when we were renting a small cottage on Conch Key (to sail daily on a lovely little 19-footer).  We used to own a Catalina 30 but never lived aboard.

We are planning to tow our Honda CR-V so want to stay under 30' for our motorhome if we possibly can, but I agree the 2910 is a lovely floorplan!  We definitely want either twin beds or a walkaround queen -- we could not live with a side queen because of  one of us having to crawl out over the other in the middle of the night to potty.  That would be a dealbreaker.

Thanks, Judi -- good to hear your experience!   

I see from your sig that you are on your third PC -- that's quite a testimony for the brand.  We have never owned an RV, but the PC looks like a very high quality model for us, and the floorplans are the best I've found in much internet research.  I'm really looking forward to seeing one in person.  I think the 2552 is the one that will suit us best...for now, at least!
