I did a search and didn't see anything on this. Is there a way to manually extend the step from the coach? Took the PC out for a drive just to check it out before a short trip this weekend, and when we returned, the step would no longer extend. The light comes on, just no step movement. It looks to me as if the step motor is between the retracted step and the under-chassis, so I can't get to it to check it out.
Any thoughts or do I need to take it in somewhere to let more professional eyes take a look at it?

There is a fuse behind the kick panel on the driver side.pullthe panel, little stiff but I would start there. Mine also quit.

Is the kick panel on the right or left of the driver's side? I see some panels on the right side (against the engine cover), but no panels on the left, just the leveler control panel, the parking brake, and all sorts of wiring. There is one 5 amp fuse sort of hanging out there all by its lonesome - checked it and it's OK. I have no idea what it's for :beg
Should I be trying to pull the panels up against the engine cover?

NO. There is another fuse but I cannot remember where. Give it a few minutes and someone will answer what I cannot remember. Sorry

On my 2010 2551, the fuses for the step and rear camera are behind the "kick panel" at the drivers foot. The "kick panel" is a plastic trim piece about one foot in size that covers the wiring to the left of the driver's feet. It is attached via two spring clips that you just pull on the cover to release. It is a tight fit and the hood release handle goes thru the cover. It may be easier to get the kick panel out if you first remove the cover across the step because it covers the bottom lip of the kick panel, the step cover is attached with screws that you can see.

You said the light comes on, therefore I would think that you have power to the step. Fuse probly not the problem. I suggest you call Phoenix before they close for the day.

Kermit told me there were three fuses for the step, and two for the back up camera behind the kick panel. For the step, one is for motor power, one for step light, and one for -- I forget. I saw the five fuses when I had the panel off.

The answer to your question is: yes, but there is no easy way.
Remove the cotter pin and bash and pry out the clevis pin on the actuator arm.
If you are crazy enough to accomplish this, you will need some wood to stabilize the step when out and a strap or rope to secure it for travel.
If you actually free the actuator arm you might as well drop the motor/gear housing (3 bolts and some prying). You probably will find that the motor works once free. If so put it all back together and enjoy until it freezes the next time. When you finally get tired of this, replace the motor/ gear assembly. Cost is around $30 from the source Kwikee uses.

The third fuse is for the automatic retraction when the key is turned on and the step is out with the switch by the door.

I just had a problem with the step on my new 2552. Step would not retract.
There is a large 4 pin connector behind the step. I unplugged, replugged, twisted it and all of the sudden the step retracted.
I'll see if problem repeats and keep you informed.
