Title: loose wire to steps on 2551s
Post by: ge_montana on May 12, 2012, 05:07:08 pm
I had some slack in the wires to the step that you could see when sitting in a chair to the side of the PC. I fixed the slack with an additional clasp. However when i did this i found that there is a light colored purple wire that is not attached to anything, it does not effect the movement of the step and the step does not look as if it has ever been attached to anything see attached jpeg.

Does anyone have any idea where this is suppose to go?

If no one answers i will call Kermit next week and post the answer.

I'd bet it's just a spare wire in a "ribbon" or "loom" of wires.  Kind of like that 4 or 6 wire flat ribbon some people use to hook up trailer lights that usually ends up having a spare wire in it.

Greg,

That wire is intended to be used to light the porch light when the step light is on.  Because the porch light is switched from inside the PC the wire is unused.  According to the installation manual it is a 16 AWG purple wire-Optional step light switch on#9506, #9507, #9508 Controls Only.

Barry --- you get a "help" from me - I also had the purple wire on my list for Elkhart trip & not needed now.  Thanks,
Jack
