Title: Stormy Weather
Post by: Paul/Marilyn on March 03, 2012, 01:16:03 pm
We know folks on the Forum are located all over the U.S. We hope that none of you or your family or friends have been affected by the tornadoes that tore across several states the last couple of days. Take care, all of you!

We are OK.  The really bad storms seem to split at the county just west of us and went just to the northern and southern parts of our county, leaving us with only light misty rain.  We did take to the basement during the (several) tornado warnings.  I will say that my three young daughters who were home with me were so very good about setting up a safe spot in the basement and helping me hobble down there in my cast. My heart is breaking for all those families who weren't as fortunate as we were.

On Friday we got the northern version of the southern storms only we got over 13 inches of thick heavy snow.  We either had thunder or the trees cracking were really loud.  The power companies claimed 26,000 without power in our county - I didn't know Antrim County even HAD 26,000 people living here.
We lost power late Friday-almost midnight- and got it restored this morning about 11am.  Wood heat rocks.
