Title: A true story:
Post by: billy on December 23, 2011, 01:48:25 pm
When I worked for J. C. Penny’s automotive center (when there was one) I was one of four salesmen. I would say I was a better then average salesman. We had a very big lead ad on some questionable four ply nylon (cheap) tires. I remember very well a fellow coming in and asking about the tires. First question was, what kind of car? Well he was not driving a car, he was had tank, one of those 18 ton Pontiacs. I suggested a little better tire, told him his car was to big for these tires. NO! So I sold him a set of four (cheap) tires and off he went.
One day I was in the midst of trying to sell a young couple a set of radial tires and this fellow walked in and as he got closer I thought he look familiar, yup here comes trouble. It was that fellow I sold those cheap tires. As he got closer I head him say, very load, remember those tires you sold me? A quick glance at the couple I was talking with and then back to him, Yes I do, his reply, “Well you can shove them tires up your ass”       LONG PAUSE      My reply, “well I’ve got two tires and a carburetor up their now and just don’t have room for your four”
After a short pause, it did get a rather big laugh. I ended up selling the young couple a set of radials and up graded him to a set of radials. All and all a pretty good day.
