Title: S&S RV Service in Gettysburg, Pa.
Post by: TomHanlon on August 14, 2011, 01:56:38 pm
I stopped here today to talk to George, the owner, about a steering stabilizer for my E-450. He told me that they had just done major handling modifications to a Phoenix Cruise and the owner was very happy with the new handling. I am wondering who that owner is and if they would get in touch with me.

I would be interested in what changes were made to correct the handling problem. I'm not happy with the ride in our new 2551.

George,
Go to my write-up on July 9th, Suspension/Handling Evaluation.  A very thorough test and fix made a world of difference in handling.

Hi Bob

Thanks for your info. I have already changed my tire pressure per your June 30 evaluation. Our 2551 w/o slide is 2000# lighter than you are. I'll be checking on shock replacements when I return home at the end of Sept.

I like the recommendation of the Koni FSD shocks.

Bob and George

I contacted Koni about FSD shocks for the E450 Chassis and according to their representative , "Koni does not have a FSD shock for the Ford E450 but the adjustable shock works just as well".

I have the red Koni-RV adjustable shocks and they seem to work just fine.  Since they were part of a larger over-all suspension upgrade, I cannot provide a direct comparison to the original Ford shocks.

They are set to the highest/stiffest setting on my E350 chassis as recommended per the suspension shop.

I just went back to SuperSteer to verify the recommendation for the FSD shocks.  The fellow doing the test mis-stated the FSD when he should have said the adjustable shocks.  They do not make the FSD for either the E350 or E450.
