Title: Kitchen outlet mod
Post by: wideglide on August 10, 2026, 08:34:35 am
Since the wife removed the mirror from the wall in the kitchen area and added decorative backsplash it provided an opportunity to add an outlet. She didnt like having to plug her coffee maker into the one below the sink. It wasnt that big of a job to tie it in with the microwave circuit and fish the wire through the wall if you are handy and familiar with residential wiring. I think it turned out very nice. Unfortunately the new Leviton lever edge outlet only came in white but its fine with us.

The microwave outlet is atypical and kinda wonky. Maybe its a common RV type outlet with punch down wire connections vs traditional screw connections but ive never seen one like it before. OF course im new-ish to RV stuff.

Good job. I did something similar. Bought a 3 outlet plug strip and tied it into the outside outlet and 2 way taped it next to the window.

Nice work wideglide!  I agree that plugging the coffee maker to the outlet below the counter, is not an ideal location.  Don't later PCs have some kind of power peg that pops up from the counter?  I wonder how that is working out.

The history behind this is that there was a time when Phoenix included a coffee maker that mounted on the inside of the lower cabinet door.  The outlet there was essential.

As shown, we had this in our 2007 PC.  It was nice in-concept, but required too much fussing.  This is it before I removed the feature and went conventional.
