Title: New batteries issue
Post by: Sparroweye on August 30, 2025, 09:59:50 pm
Purchased two Duracell 12 V AGM 110ah/800 cca batteries.  After installation I was getting 19v plus measurement at batteries and the Xantrex volt meter said 12.6.input voltage.  Double checked the series wiring and it’s correct.  Any ideas?   I don’t understand what the problem is.  Inverter/converter or  issues with MH wiring?

12v battereies should be connect in Parallel not series. You should be supplyimg 12.6 volts to your system.

My mistake. They are running parallel, I misspoke. I checked it again and the wiring is correct. It's exactly the same as I've always had Gave up trying to post a photo.

Voltage adds in series. Current  adds in parallel.

If your old batteries were 6v they were connected in series.

Did you replace two 6v batteries with two 12v batteries?

Two 12v batteries should be connected
(+) to (+) and (-) to (-)

I’m embarrassed to say it was my voltage reader.  Harbor Freight is good for certain things but saving money on a voltage a reader w/o battery indicator isn't one of them.  Popped in a fresh battery and it’s 12.7 v !!!   I was relieved for the easy fix but feel stupid for not thinking of that.  It’s an age thing.
