Title: Batteries in Entry Door

Our 2552 was in an inside storage facility since November.  When we went to take it out, we could only open the lock with a key.  Do the door batteries drain when in storage?

The batteries in your door lock are not connected to the coach in any way.  You need to open the battery compartment on the inside portion of the door lock and change the batteries. It is suggested that you use alkaline batteries, well at least the Bauer lock we have does.

I just realized that you may be talking about using your key fob to get into the cab doors.  I have an older Phoenix so we just have a regular old fashioned key.  I would also think that if that is the case, you will need to put a new battery in your key fob ( keyless entry remote).  They don’t last long at all and probably should be replaced every year.

I realize the batteries in the door lock are not connected to the coach.  I am wondering why the batteries in the door lock run down while the rig is in storage for 4-5 months.  They had been replaced about three months before we put the rig in storage.

Many keyless entry locks have a switch to turn off the remote key fob access. Running the circuits to continuously listen for a key fob will consume battery power.


Look for a small black switch... It might not be labeled, or maybe with just "ON " and  "OFF".


The original owners manual from the lock manufacturer "should" document this.
