Title: Dump station Door Compartment
Post by: Gayler on September 08, 2023, 10:01:22 pm
Does anyone have a problem getting the dump station compartment door to close.  One side works perfectly but the left side won’t latch.  Any ideas how to fix would be appreciated.

What I find that helps is to open the door and twist the knob counter clockwise at least 4 or 5 full revolutions. The knob is basically a bolt. The inner latch is a nut on the bolt. While you have the door open watch it as you turn it counter clockwise.  It extends longer on the bolt. Over time,,,, You can get it too tight and it misses the RV side wall and won't keep the door closed.

By rotating counter clockwise several times you extend the latch out far enough to be in range to start working again.   When you close it this time it will rotate 90 degrees into position and then tighten down on the bolt and catch.

Larry,  you were absolutely right!  My husband followed your instructions and came in laughing at how simple the fix was.  Thank you sooo very much!!

Now,  how do we fix a squeaky main door?  LOl

Glad it worked... And happy to bring a laugh.  The same latches are on your battery compartment door... So he will be able to celebrate this fix twice as often.

I got a squeaky main door sometimes too... I just spray the "dry lube" version of WD40 in the hinges 2 or 3 times a year... And follow with a paper towel under behind to keep it off the paint.  I've never found a permanent solution for this squeak.
