Title: got a letter from a new company wanting me to trade in my PC.
Post by: TomHanlon on May 13, 2011, 04:10:24 pm
Today I got a letter from a new company that is starting up in Elkhart called NeXus RVS. They wanted to me to trade in my PC on one of their new units. I googled them and watched their videos. It was amusing watching the ex-salesman, now company president Claude Donati describing their motorhome and how they plan on doing business. It looks like they used Phoenix as a business model on how they will build and sell their motorhomes. They are located two blocks north of the Phoenix factory on the same road. Their units have little of the aerodynamics in the front and where the cab meets the box is a real wind catcher and the flat side walls should make it hard to handle in the wind. Mr Donati went to great lengths to talk about the stronger steel side walls but did not explain how they plan to keep the steel from rusting and staining the walls. Wait until you see their new sofa that they have, and how it turns into a bed.  roflol  While watching the videos, I kept thinking I was really glad that I have a PC.

I wonder how they got my name, address and knew that I have a PC?

Has anyone else got this letter?

Holy Smokes. Please let me know the postmark on the letter, and if an e-mail address was included.

It was address by a girl and sent to Tom & Jo Anne Hanlon at our home address. There was no reference to us in the letter other than saying they wanted our PC in trade. My email address was not to be seen. It was post marked in South Bend, In. Stuart already has a copy of the letter. My guess is that they looked on here at our signature and my name and looked us up in a phone book for Maryland.
Thanks for your concern about our email address.

We got one too. The interesting thing is that they spelled my name correctly. Addressed to Judi and George Nicholson. We were curious as to where they got our names and address. It's in the trash now! (WH)

Forgot to tell you, Aimee, that it was postmarked from South Bend on the 10th.

I watched the three You-Tube videos on the Nexus.  I don't see it standing out beyond other typical class-C motor homes.  It surely does not compete with a Phoenix Cruiser any more than the others do.  The Nexus "Factory Direct" sales strategy and all that, well......we all know that is not a new concept in motor home sales.  For their sake, I hope they do well.  If you want Big & Bulky and 7 foot ceilings, then they are one more fish in the ocean.  I don't see the Nexus offering anything unique in the industy.  Personally, if I wanted a typical "C", I'd buy a Winnebago or Itasca as long as it had the big seamless fiberglass front over-hanging bed.

If you want to "sensibly" downsize, there are only a few quality/price contenders with a PC today.

Is the bed that fellow demonstrates, the same kind of air bed in the newer PCs?  I never seen how an air bed works.

Your information on the site is only visible to other logged-in members. If I find they've sneaked in under my radar, they will be banned. I do NOT take client privacy or security lightly.  >(

Thanks for the extra information. I was wondering if they had an e-mail contact for them included, so I could run it against my database of members. Ooh, it burns me up!  pyho

We go to such great lengths to keep our contacts with people completely ethical. I won't bore you with the hoops we go through to make sure we are not inundating people by e-mail or mail unsolicited, but we absolutely do our due diligence. This really chaps my hide.

If they got a membership on this forum to meet these ends, I will find out. And I will wreak havoc to the full extent I am able to.

Ron, that is the same type of bed in the current PC only the sofa is much better built. Did you notice the big gap between the seat and the back when he opened the bed? That is not there with our bed.

An RV Salesman with almost 30 years in the business told me today that the DMV sells this information, and there are companies out there that will compile it for businesses willing to pay it, so they could request a list of people who bought Cruisers during a certain time period, and send out letters just to them.

He said a company he used to work for used to buy them and just send out "stop by and see us" flyers to people--but not something specific and creepy the way these guys did.  Whatever their intention, it seems to have backfired for them.

It's crazy how it's illegal to purchase e-mail addresses and send out mass e-mails to those purchased addresses, but the DMV can sell them and people can mail you at your house.  (WH)

The DMV is the government and that's ok for them, they have a different set of rules.      pyho

I liked the way vinyl and leather are terms used interchangeably, or not. Don't think I will trade anytime soon.

I've had a number of RVs, from a bare-bones 8' slide-in to loaded gas A's and high-line Diesel-pushers.
This 2551 is my 2nd PC - for myriad reasons.
IMNSHO, Nexus is an "also-ran".

But I do, truly and honestly, wish them success.

I noticed that too -- in fact, he said "all Vinyl" when refering to the dinette...
