In the middle of our recent Texas Hill Country trip we couldn't open our entry door from the inside. However we had no problem opening it from the outside.
Thinking it was a broken lock I ordered a new door lock from Amazon and had it delivered to a nearby friend's home. As I was taking out the old lock I quickly realized that the two screws on the inside of the door frame on the lock's bolt face were missing. I took the screws from the lock I had just purchased and screwed them into the slots of the missing screw holes. And to my amazement the inside handle started working correctly.
So if you think you have a broken entry door lock make sure all the screws are where they should be. And all 5 screws are the same length and thread size but 2 haves different shaped head.
:-) Anyone want to buy a discounted RV Designer T507 Motorhome Entrance Door Lock with Built-in Deadbolt for TriMark/Phoenix Cruise. Make me an offer! I paid $167 for something I didn't need.

We had the EXACT same problem, although our inside screws weren't missing, just loose. I, too, ordered a new lockset, thinking the old one was broken. Our mobile RV guy simply tightened the screws & it worked perfectly. Fortunately, I'd ordered the replacement lockset on Amazon Prime, so was able to return it for a full refund.

For what it's worth, 2 suggestions:
1. Before any trip, check the 3 screws on the inside and tighten if needed.
2. I got an RV designer latch a few years ago, 2020. It didn't last but 18 months and the pot metal latch broke. I was near RV Designer's headquarters in Illinois so called them first, stopped by and they gave me a new latch, which I replaced on RV Designer's parking lot. The replacement was the 4th (!) latch I had to install! It worked fine the rest of that trip. The latch arm looked identical to the other 4, so I went to http://latchfix.com and bought the kit ($50). When I got home, did the katchfix change and it's been working fine ever since. I have NO idea if RV Designer has modified the latch arm on models made since 2021.
I would recommend the latch fix IF YOU ARE HANDY!
