After reading Aimee's inf. on surround sound I am still having trouble getting it to work. How do I get the DVD to HDMI/CC Theater and the TV to d/in. I must be missing something. Help.

I wish I had more advice. I'm not actually sitting with one. They were just the instructions passed on to me. Hopefully someone else can come along and clarify, and if any of you find my instructions to be off, just let me know how to make them more accurate/clearer and I'll fix it.

Those directions do not seem to apply to the setup in my 2010 2551. For mine, the following works:
To play a DVD, select "AV" as the source on the TV
To hear the TV in Surround Sound while on ant or cable, on the TV go to menu/sound/speaker select/external speaker. The directions are correct when they say to wait a few seconds to hear the surround sound - actually it takes about 15 second for mine.

If that works for you, Rannan, please let me know and I'll make an adjustment in the instructions. I'm open to all feedback on this.

Thanks, will try and advise.

If I turn the TV speaker off and put the DVD to AUX2 the TV plays on the two front surround speakers, but nothing on the rear small speakers. To play the DVD I need to put the TV on AV2, but the sound still just comes out of the front speakers only. I assume that I should be able to get sound out of all the surround speakers.

rannan5050, mine works like yours--aux 2 and sound only from front speakers for tv. The rear speakers only seem to work when I play a dvd with surround sound. The base boost speaker is under the bed on our model, and it was so loud I had to remove it.

Can you get Surround Sound using the batwing antenna? (WH) I am wondering if some of the problem with off the air signal is that very few shows are broadcast in surround sound and I am not sure that the antenna even can get them. Now if you have a satellite antenna you should be able to get a lot of surround sound. I can get it from a DVD so I know it works in the motorhome.

My surround sound works on whatever TV channels I can get on the Batwing antenna. With the TV set to "external speakers" and the surround sound on "Aux 2" there is no sound from the TV, but only from the four surround sound speakers. If I try to use the TV remote to change the volune I get the message "Not available." I use the surround sound remote to change that volume for the TV in that setup.
Hope this helps someone.

Mine works the same.

I went out and played with my setup and it works the same as Glenn describes. The only thing I noticed was that I don't have to set the tv to external speakers, just turn the volume all the way down. Thanks Glenn. :)(:
Now if you know how to get my DW to crank down the antenna after she finishes watching TV and I have gone to bed. >( roflol

I guess they're all about the same -- except that the "Directions for Samsung" indicate that the "TV needs to be on d/in" --- on my 2011, it is the DVD player that must be on "d.in" (which I assume means disc in) to get the surround sound. With the TV only on, the sound is out of only the TV speakers ---Duh!.
And, it's the forward speakers -- not the ones in the back over the beds.
Also, I'm ising only the remote for the DVD -- it controls the TV volume as well.

You guys are the best guinea-pig-tester-folk a gal could ask for. We'll get it sorted out, and then I'll make the changes on the PDF. :)(:

I appreciate all the responses and I will keep trying to get my surround sound to work. I assume the dvd remote is used for the s.s. Right now I can not even get the rear speakers to work with dvd's. One more thing- are there four or five surround speakers?
-
There are five surround speakers, for 2010 and earlier, the center one is hiding under the TV behind the trim work. You have to take the TV out to see it. In 2011 they mounted a new center speaker in the roof over the TV. The other four are small ones, two mounted in the wings and two back near the kitchen wall. In the 2350 the bedroom has two larger speakers but they are for the radio, not the TV.

Tom's right --- my 2011 has 3 in front and 2 over the beds in the back. Also, ranman, yes, the dvd remote controls all.
