Just curious; Do you carry a spare water pump? If you do what pump did your purchase? Have you ever had to replace your pump while on the road? Being on the road for an extensive period of time and boon-docking we are considering of having an extra pump available. thanks

YES .. I did keep a spare water pump and other items in my spare parts bin

Yep, mine failed in a national forest campground in the mountains of Northern New Mexico about four years ago. I was incredibly lucky that a small auto parts store in a small village several miles down the road carried a few rv parts. They had one, dusty pump on the bottom shelf that probably had been there for years. I bought it and installed it and saved our trip and saved driving a long way to a larger town. I kept the old pump and rebuilt it when I got home and carry it for a spare. I had to do a bigger modification to fix it than I could do out in the middle of no where. The pump I bought was slightly lower in gpm discharge than the old one but not enough to noticeably change it out by buying a larger pump.

To extend pump life and improve pump behavior, consider adding a 2 gallon water accumulator tank. I installed one back in 2008 and it has been a very nice improvement. I went very cheap back then with a $40 tank from Home Depot. Today, I would buy THIS (https://www.altestore.com/store/solar-water-pumps/surface-solar-pumps/shurflo-surface-pumps/accessories-for-shurflo-pumps/shurflo-2-gal-ss-pre-charged-pressure-tank-p4302/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw1ZeUBhDyARIsAOzAqQLBNElkXLML0dMcJlXayRsvUsKXyN8ApXAPLZ8FGgjEJ5ihvxIkgMMaAnmAEALw_wcB) stainless steel tank for a much cleaner installation.
Here is my 2 gallon Home Depot tank installed in 2008 that continues to work well.

Yes, we did for a while. Just make sure you have the proper tools and electrical crimp connectors and crimper.

We just replaced our water pump and the Covid-era cost through my local RV guy was still $300. He said the prices for all parts have skyrocketed lately. We do have some warranty coverage so pain not quite as bad.

If the current model Shurflo pumps are still rebuildable all it takes is a $40 diaphragm kit, a screwdriver, and about 30 minutes.
I did the accumulator mod with a smaller Shurflo #182-200 tank. After adjusting it to 28psi the pump no longer cycles on and off to maintain static pressure.

I carry some tools and fuses. You can have stuff in short order via Amazon or rec pro etc. Murphy’s law always beats me when I try to prepare for every contingency by breaking something else.
Recpro sells a pump with 3 year warranty for $65.
Correction, there is one part I always carry extra of. Time has proven to always have some extra cabinet latch’s. I’ve yet to take a summer trip where at least one of them hasn’t failed.
