Any one ordered a standard carpet kit for front of motorhome. Drivers and passengers. Or other ways to replace the carpets. Thank you

It was always a thought of mine that when the day comes to replace our front cab carpet, is to order an OEM rubber floor covering direct from a Ford dealer parts department. It will include an insulation blanket attached to the underside which should quiet down the ride a lot and also control cab temperatures better. Being black rubber, you would loose the home-like feel, but I imagine the benefits would outweigh the lack of visual appeal.
You'd likely have to tell the parts guy you want a rubber floor covering for a box truck of the same model year, 2005 in your case. If no longer offered, then "up" the model year to one that is less than 10 years old, so say "Box Truck 2013".
If you remove your current carpet, you will find it to be very thin with no insulation properties. The carpet has to be very thin in order for the RV manufacture to conform it to the irregular shape of the floor pan, making many cuts and folds, and gluing it down to the steel floor. But buying a preformed insulated rubber floor covering from Ford, theoretically it will fit like a glove with no messing around.
I don't know if this is possible, but when installing the rubber floor covering, I would first attempt to install it over your original carpet specifically to gain the extra insulation. But if the rubber covering isn't fitting right because of the carpet, then rip out the carpet for the right fit.
There are also aftermarket suppliers of floor coverings like the example SEEN HERE (https://www.ebay.com/itm/192831705815?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item2ce5aa52d7%3Ag%3A3gMAAOSwXL1cbCq0&amdata=enc%3AAQAGAAACoPYe5NmHp%252B2JMhMi7yxGiTJkPrKr5t53CooMSQt2orsSMJP5lymjvym%252B0KHUMc1dIUrIOlzk1N9UXVdKw81hYbO70KiVgfkOcAWqVr0crDBLOVvRvcWmp%252FEJlcjeTDygAq8nz3R58IDXDkheJp3GLpdyzTgTk52tP9de319MLdg4iDuPGMebPtr3RdhrGW740EiA643PDZ8n1u9kruXCxjjRpEUpcfW4y0kl6lxjxRWZkAEWDmu%252FIk7N2zcwofVAhgEmxEsL0gXYJpsrlCSFJ7uCdAgRiaO07Klys4X8lYUttdT7BMk%252FgISaA8ekw2qpvOSBg3CxZfCHOD5OQXDFj6BFMGUloCWWDWqIwH6M4VRiSUafmYCLA3ym8Xyvv3EcZ5sOBKtYT9Qk%252FeoQnYPj3f0wySc2DYIZ5I2YCav0hUqxXcDzTYKsMZT9cPGtuN%252F8cnUsW1NyDtYAx33tkOkuMU5bWiFm47mYRoI2xp4MIla3Y2LA1g1r3u%252B6Yhos%252F3U0Ij8fFM%252BkzUjQKpieYCSO9xp5yLSlLFWtp5jxNG%252FDsmuTL07sro8vOO41ypUdu22BNWmwOL1rCJJtZbG2hgGjj7SVwayhO50FPvXVMX%252FeMK805EhQg%252FkYhm74wpSqelqm5XyGBBCq19g04gAS3PbgSmqxEtcpH66aPxm9tc69HUDaQgF4otEsocXUHIpVMwaeE%252Bs6PYOSpDXKMIrgvQ%252FIVmDxSz76se1V6%252FFhu9iLqT67uz3tTVP%252BxDNmc3plSjbr%252FcDNJTJfi8NoxUhHQ2xb6lkcI5Ghk63NNzBDwQdGNOt5tzeoKe9T3uHfglpwKHccYwQlzBG27aue1BnlypbT71qooB2UerIQKx9jrr2Y8HD3Wxqyxcwhe%252BXjUe2MNme7ug%253D%253D%7Cclp%3A2499334%7Ctkp%3ABFBM2oOTwspf&fits=Year%3A2013%7CModel%3AE-350+Super+Duty%7CMake%3AFord&var=492966470187) offered as carpet in various colors. Maybe this is worth consideration.

I don't recommend installing the rubber mat over carpet. We have that now and it worries me. Carpet holds moisture. With the rubber over it, any moisture in will likely stay in and possibly rust the floor.
Our Ford engine had a high pitch whine that neither Phoenix or Ford could identify or fix. Phoenix had purchased some cutaways that already had the rubber mats in them so they tore them out and tossed them in their storage area. When Kermit heard Ford couldn't/wouldn't fix the noise, he had the crew install one of those slightly damaged mats into our rig to help deaden the noise. One of these days I'm going to talk John into letting me pull the front seats, remove the mat and tear out the carpet. I'd like that impervious truck bed sealant to go in before the mat goes back down but I'd probably be pushing it. A new mat from Ford was $500 back in 2013.

I installed Berber carpet. Pulled out the current carpet (was not glued down)and used it as a template to cut the Berber. Easy Peasy, inexpensive and looks great.

Hi 2 Frazzled,
The way I see it, the carpet won't hold moisture any worse than the fiber-padding on the back-side of the rubber flooring. Am I right, or am I misunderstanding something?
Other than that concern of yours, how is the "fit" of the Ford rubber flooring with the original PC carpet behind it laid first? Do you have any pictures to share?
In your opinion, does the extra OEM rubber flooring over the carpet help with general noise and heat?

I didn't care for the carpet in the cab and purchased an aftermarket beige/tan rubber floor for the E450. I also purchased a pad kit from the same manufacturer. Removed the seats and old shag carpeting. Cleaned up the painted floor with a green pad and soap and water. This gave me some tooth on the painted surface. I then sprayed Ceramic Lizard Skin on the floor and inside of the dog house/engine cover. Installed the padding and new vinyl floor. It's excellent, reduced the heat and noise from the floor. It looks great and easy to keep clean. Wished PC would have done it instead of the 70's look shag carpet. If your not familiar with lizard skin it's a coating used to deaden sound and reduce heat. I have used it several times before and it works very well. I like it better than Dyna-Mat.
Very Respectfully
Lance

Lance, Could you post some pictures?

Steve, no I do not. Units covered in storage. Installed 3 years ago and it’s holding up great. About all I can give you. Send me your email and when I pull it out of storage I’ll send you a pic if you still want it

There is no fiber padding on the back of the mat. I can get my fingers under it around the seat base cut out and feel smooth rubber. It seems to fit fairly well but looks a little bulgy where it goes under the trim. This could be due to that fat layer of carpet under it. Yes we noticed a decrease in noise and heat. I'll try to get a photo tomorrow in daylight.

Or other ways to replace the carpets. Thank you
3 Years, several muddy festivals, and it STILL looks like new. Things on the floor stay MUCH cooler, and the sound level is dropped to where I can easily hear someone talking to me from the back of the coach while underway.

There's a recent post on the travel club Facebook page about replacing carpet. One of the comments has a pic of their solution AND links to the products they used (sound/heat deadening material and molded rubber floor). Our club Facebook page is not restricted to club members but it is a private group so you have to ask to join. Not sure this link will work but you can try
