Title: Telemed Restrictions
Post by: 2 Frazzled on September 01, 2021, 01:52:19 pm
One big silver lining from Covid was that my doctor finally started doing Telemed appointments. We were thrilled I could do my wellness visits via Zoom and refill prescriptions wherever we happened to be. Not anymore.

My doctor was notified that his malpractice insurance does not allow him to treat out of state patients. Telemed counts the location you are in at the time of treatment. John has mail order prescriptions and they haven't shut him down yet. Maybe because the doctor doesn't see where you are (if you don't tell). The doctor has your home state address. The mail order pharmacy is the one with your current location.

My prescriptions have to be called in to a pharmacy near my current location so it's pretty obvious I'm on the other side of the country. Hence, no telemed and no prescriptions. Now that they know where I am, I doubt I can get away with switching to mail order meds.

My doctor's office has the policy that they have to see me within a year before renewing a prescription. No telemed=no doctor visit=no migraine meds=unhappy me. Crud! That Covid silver lining is gone. Time to "move" to the west coast.

It's not foolproof either as the mail order meds company is really bad about updating the shipping address and have sent them to locations we left months ago.
