Title: A small problem
Post by: billy on April 13, 2011, 10:54:44 pm
When cooking, we had splatter on the bottom side of the removable counter tops. (Sink and stove) The grease is hard to get out. We've tried Dawn, no luck. Tried a small amount of Mineral Sprits and washing with Dawn, it came out. BUT not sure I want to clean with Mineral Sprits. I could see the whole counter catching fire. roflol roflol roflol I know it will not happen but Sharon worries about everything. Any ideas????

The mineral spirits will evaporate and not catch fire.

In the future, store the removable tops with the finished sides facing out, the grease won't penetrate.  Or, seal the bottom sides with mineral oil to keep grease from penetrating.

Or, take Sharon out to dinner more often.

There is a spray cleaner that you can get at HD or Lowe's for cleaning counter tops that works great.  I have all so used a very mild rubbing compound (fit for clear coat finishes) that worked very well in getting minor scratches out and I am sure oil/greese stains.  The counter top dealer suggested that to me.  best of luck.

Glad I could help!   :-D

BTW, have you heard from HDDrvr regarding getting to see a PC in the sacramento area (Introduce Yourself topic)?  I haven't.
