Title: Replacement of couch slide cable
Post by: BruceClerico on August 05, 2021, 08:26:01 am
Has anyone replaced the cable that controls the slide out mechanism on the ottoman section of the dual reclining couches?  One of ours just broke at the connection point, rendering the slideout inoperable and the cable on the other couch is "hanging by a thread" & will probably also break soon.  I've sent an inquiry to Phoenix USA parts dept. about ordering two new cables, but have not yet received a reply.

Paul's Seating in Elkhart should be able to assist.

I had to replace the inner cable as it broke.  I took an old throttle cable and threaded it through the stock casing and used a compression seal to clasp it. I will replace it if it brakes; however, cheap fix.  .50 cents.  Lol

Kind of a change of subject but somewhat related:
Does anybody else but me not like that the ottomans lock in the extended position?
I understand they need to when retracted for safety but would rather be able to move them around with my feet while sitting.
Usually I'm careful not to extend them all the way so they remain moveable  but am thinking about putting a small plate over the hole that it latches into so it can't lock in the extended position.
Guess I should be glad that there are only little things like this that bug me about my PC  :)

Slide cable replacement update.  Dave Onsler from PC/USA sent me two replacement cables.  Other than the difficulty in removing the two old ones due to working in a relatively confined space, the replacement was fairly simple & both sofa sections now work perfectly.

Thanks again to Dave Onsler for his assistance on my order.

Actually, I believe his last name is "Ponser"

I thought it was "Ponsler," as well.  But, the return address label on the package containing the cables said "Dave Onsler."
