For those of you with HWH levelers, how many of you also carry those lego blocks, or other leveling types? Do you also carry/use wheel/tire chocks?

We carry the lego type blocks. Very handy in NP or state park type sites which can be very un-level. Coach is reasonably stable on the blocks too. The HWH sometimes just can't get it done on these sites. Sometimes we can get level using the HWH manually when the auto level can't do it, but occasionally just have to drive up on the blocks. Do not use wheel chocks.

Just the opposite, no legos, but take a chock. We always level manually with HWH. You need the chock if you need to really lift the rear end - that's the only part that keeps you from rolling away....

I thought about it once 5 years ago but never bought them. I’ve always been able to find work arounds. They look good but I already struggle with dragging along more crap then I need. So for the last couple of years I’ve been going through everything and if it wasn’t used in 2 years of trips it’s out. I’ll find work arounds. This years trip is looking like 10-12 thousand miles depending on border openings. Maybe I’ll find more drag alongs to donate to the local green jobs palace.

I always use the "LEGO" Blocks. I have never found a camping spot where the grade level couldn't be improved upon. , I feel using them is worth the effort. Even when parking for one night. As for storing them: I have other things higher on my list of options for discard.

We do not have electric or hydraulic levelers so we use the orange Lynx lego blocks when improved leveling is needed. They take up storage space in 4 blue bags but are light weight. Our extra-wide extra-deep under-bed storage can handle bulk, not weight due to my general weight distribution goals, so they work well for me.

As part of an upgrade, the previous owner paid some serious dollars to have installed the HWH #725 hydraulic leveling system. (This was just before they decided that what they really needed was a larger RV.) The HWH system was repaired under warranty after we acquired the RV. Aside from that, along with consulting every HWH manual I have been able to locate, the system has never been reliable. Concerned that the levelers would become stuck in the extended position(*), we now resort to the orange lego blocks. Low-tech but also foolproof. As suggested by others. wheel chocks are an excellent investment.
(*) Even though the first page in the HWH binder of manuals are the instructions for manually retracting the levelers.

Cropduster, It is sad to read that you have levelers that you are afraid to use. Their lack of reliability could be caused from a lack of use and lubrication. Hopefully others with the same system will provide sound advise on required maintenance to build up your confidence to use them.

Doesn’t the 725 extend down the same as all the others? Mine is a 2011 do I have no idea. On mine when you extend they swivel down and then extend the hydraulic ram. Does yours do the same? My reason for asking is if they ever failed to retract you can drive off of this type. Granted the hydraulic would still be deployed but they would have swiveled back up so your not stopped from driving.

I recall that the newer HWH levelers are hinged so when retracted there is less chance of road damage. An issue with our levelers is an erratic operation from the control pad. This was temporarily corrected when I located and repaired a loose ground wire. Followed by the issue of consistent 'Excess Slope' warnings, even when the rig was close to level. Easier to use the orange legos and ignore the leveling system.

Easier to use and drag around LEGO blocks than push a button? Gotta admit I never expected to hear that. My unit is a 2011 currently with 65,000 miles and I can’t imagine not having levelers. To each their own however. Different strokes as they say.
