Has anyone installed a Lippert Thin Shade in a Phoenix Cruiser entry door?
Will it fit without any modifications?
My present blind is not working properly and look horrible.
-
We installed the shade that Phoenix uses by MCD. We called Carol and bought it from her. There was very little modification. The two holes in the door at the bottom of the existing shade were covered using two stainless steel screws. We really like the MCD shade versus the mini blind.

I am SO sick of the blinds, and they are beat up. Do you have a link or product # for the MCD?
I would prefer the Lippert integrated shade model window assembly, but have not found a model that will swap out for the Hehr in the Liftco door. But research continues. Lippert customer service has been very nice on the phone, but I have not sourced the dimensional drawings.....YET.. :)(:

There is no model number on them. We just called Carol at PC and she sent it to us.

I did call Carol and ordered the Phoenix Cruiser OEM MCD shade.
The Thin Shade is made by Lippert to fit their doors. I could not find any info if they would fit a PC door.
My door shade was a metal blind and anything would be an improvement over that.

OK, after disassembling the entrance door, I have a much clearer project now.
Two options. First is cheapest and easiest. Since the blinds have been on there, we have NEVER opened them. The rod to do so broke off, and i never put it back on. Less noise. So I dont need another external roll up shade. So this would be a great solution -

Leave it on there 24/7 except for the rare times we need to see out.
But hey, why not shoot for the top? Get a little crazy? hithere
This is going to be the replacement window -

Hight wise, it matches the cutout there now. (cheer) Unfortunately, the cutout is 1" too wide. >( I can see having a flat adapter plate made from .063 aluminum that would fit under the frame, and cover the reveal on the edges. The plate and the added sealant would HOPEFULLY still be in the thickness range for the window to work. I feel it will be, this from the install instructions: (found here: http://approducts.net/PDFs/instructions/slimshaeinstallFINAL.pdf )
Note: The installation screws are designed to bottom out in the frame. This prevents over tightening and ensures a proper seal of window and frame to prevent possible leaks.
I think that it will allow me to be a bit on the thick side and have proper screw engagement.
I plan on re-making my inner panel anyway, so I can correct the window opening then. For others that wish to replace the window only, two such adapter rings would be needed. Paint them black, you would never notice them.
If this works, I will be sure to keep all my notes so other PC owners can easily upgrade to these windows. Maybe have several adapters cut at the same time and sell parts. 2o2
Going to order the window to get it in my hands, then go forward. :)(:

I have never had any desire to change the metal blinds on our 2007 entry door because it does the job, but I understand the complaint.

I bought a used 2007. The metal blind is discolored, some slats are bent and the plastic rod is missing.
My only option was a new blind.

An "excellent" reason for a new blind. Once installed, I would love to see a pic or two.

Once again, the forum does NOT like me rotating pictures. >( But I think the idea gets across. :)(: After dark, but at a good stopping point. ;)

Thanks to the folks at Yuengling brewery for supplying the 'liquid courage' to hack up half of my new window kit. roflol 14 holes left to drill tomorrow, BUT IT WORKS! (cheer) (cheer) (cheer) (cheer)
I did NOT like the plastic framed, poorly sealed, outer replacement window. I will get weather-stripping for the original, and it will go for another 15 years. 2o2
And it works well. I got my thin shade.

After the hole drilling, gonna pull the original trim ring off and paint it black. Will look prettier then... but for now I am heartshower !:)! heartshower

roflol Thanks!
The angle of the morning sun makes it look MUCH wavier than it actually is. But the trim is painted, and WOW does it look good. The top of the aluminum trim stands a bit proud, the shade is not dipped in. I will fix it and touch things up with a paint pen once the paint dries fully. I was a little excited to get it assembled.
The depth of the new part was perfect to set tight on the existing glass. Once I found that out, there was no stopping. :-D

NO MORE clattering of the blinds. >( NO MORE catching my shoulder almost every*darn*time pyho I go in the door carrying something.
Now we can leave the shade open most of the time, and just close it when we want. (cheer) The old blinds did not stay up. More than once I have opened the door into Mrs V when she was just about to come in. :-[
I feel like I have a new door. :lol I am going to re-make the inner door skin from white plastic wall material and take care of the screw holes and stains. Will look fine inside the white painted door frame.
I am happy with the value also. $75 and a bit of work to have EXACTLY what I wanted. 2o2

Good for you Volkemon!
With our PC, I imagine I would have to ditch the thermal pane window, and that isn't going to happen as long as the seal doesn't break. So far so good on all our thermal pane seals. No fogging yet.
