Title: PC Newbie Questions (Winterize, Pioneer GPS, Frig)
Post by: custerhank on August 28, 2020, 07:44:02 pm
Will be returning to cold country from trip to Indiana in October in our 2019 3100. Have to decide how much winterizing to do before we actually get home. Prefer to winterize at home.

Tank Heater - How effective is it? Our Oct low temps are usually 30-32 so no hard freeze for a while.

V-10 Engine for Winter - I put Seafoam in our previous 2910D last winter but thinking just a good dose of Stabil would be ok. Due to our cold climate PC will be just sitting for up to 6 months except for occasional battery check and genny run. We do have full hookups.

Other:

.  Radio: We have the Pioneer AVH-X490BS with the GPS Add-On. Do we really have to pay for updates? Not sure I can access the SD card anyway.

There are 2 110V plugs in the outside frig compartment, but one appears sealed with a black cover (?). Would like to put a fan in there if we get in hot country.

Thanks,

Hank

Hank,

I have used Stabil and a full tank for storage for 20 years now over several RV's never had a problem.  The full tank prevents sucking damp air into the fuel tank from expansion and contraction of the fuel and tank with temperature changes.

Tank heaters work, but draw a lot of power and to be honest neither gray nor black water will freeze until mid 20's.

No idea on GPS.  My Garmin GPS map updates are free.

There should already be exhaust fans above the refrigerator.

In the 3100 I don't think the refer is in a slide-out, which means it does not come with a fan.
It is fine without a fan until outdoor temperatures get really hot. I added a fan in my old 2551 with the refer not in a slide out.
If you don't know what the plug does, plug in something to see when power comes on. All the time? When refer is on? Only when cooling, either gas or electric?

Everything is OK when temperatures are in mid 20's without heaters, it takes a while for things to freeze. I you have heat going inside, no problem. If it is not on, open the cabinet doors by the sinks.
